So that no one is left behind
Returning to Suoi Dua village (Thanh Binh commune), the first impression is that the lives of the people here have changed a lot. The village roads are cleaner, and the houses are kept clean by the people.
Suoi Dua village currently has 42 households, with 178 Co ethnic people living there. With assistance and support in all aspects, up to now Suoi Dua village has only 7 poor households, 100% of school-age children go to school, and discrimination between girls and boys has been eliminated.
People have risen to do gardening and animal husbandry; many young people are actively looking for jobs to improve their income.
In recent times, Tien Lap commune (old) together with associations, unions, and support from the Economic and Social Development Program for Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, has invested in infrastructure as well as improved the lives of people in Suoi Dua village.
Thanks to that, ethnic minority families in the village have accessed knowledge, improved farming and livestock raising methods, contributing to improving economic efficiency and sustainable poverty reduction.
On the eve of the 1st Congress of Thanh Binh Commune Party Committee, a solidarity house worth 60 million VND was awarded by Thanh Binh Commune to Ms. Pham Thi Ai (born in 1952, village 5).
Ms. Ai is a former youth volunteer in a very difficult situation, currently receiving a monthly allowance of 540,000 VND. This amount of money is difficult for her to cover her living expenses, especially when she has to raise her grandchild who is in 10th grade this year. The two of them rely on each other, spend frugally, and save for each meal.
Mrs. Ai said: “I am old this year, I can no longer work, so I let them work on my field for me, and they weigh out as much rice as I can eat. This house is very old, but I don’t know what to do with it, so I just stay here temporarily. Now the government is giving me money to rebuild the house, I am very grateful.”
