Up to now, 76/76 Farmers' Associations of communes, wards and special zones of Ho Chi Minh City have completed the organization of the 1st Congress of Farmers' Association delegates, term 2025 - 2030. Farmers' Associations of Vinh Tan commune, Xuyen Moc commune and Tan Thanh ward are the last units to organize the Congress in October 2025 and complete the organization of the grassroots Congress on schedule.
Regarding the preparation for the organization of the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association, term 2025 - 2030, the Standing Committee of the City Farmers' Association has deployed comments on the draft Political Report, Review of the Executive Committee, Standing Committee... Organized a conference to comment on the contents of the Congress with the participation of former members of the Standing Committee, Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association, Binh Duong province and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (before the merger).
Four subcommittees including Content and Documents, Personnel, Propaganda, and Logistics are focusing on completing the preparation work. It is expected that the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association, term 2025 - 2030, will be held in early December 2025.
According to the Subcommittee on Content and Documents, the conferences to collect comments on the Congress documents recorded many practical opinions from the grassroots and former leaders of the Association through the periods. Accordingly, the delegates agreed on the Congress theme: "Building a comprehensively strong Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association; promoting the role of farmers as the subject in developing agriculture, rural economy and building new rural areas; firmly entering the new era".
Regarding the assessment of the agricultural situation, many opinions suggested that the report should reflect more closely the rapid urbanization of the City, clarifying the limitation that "agricultural products are often forced to lower prices, not really stimulating production". For farmers, it is necessary to highlight the spirit of learning and innovation in production and consumption of products, and at the same time add content about consumption risks affecting the lives and thoughts of farmers.
With the movement "Farmers compete in production and good business", delegates proposed to evaluate the overall effectiveness of the models of the three provinces, thereby building a method to gather farmers and core production models; at the same time, evaluate the results of the program "One Commune One Product" (OCOP).
Opinions also suggested adding outstanding achievements such as: Project to send farmers to study at home and abroad, "Love Tet" Program, Good Production - Business Farmers Clubs, Billionaire Farmers, Program to honor "Typical Agricultural Products of the City", Fairs and Exhibitions of OCOP products.
Notably, many delegates proposed to develop a project to enhance domestic and international exchanges and cooperation to support farmers in economic development and new rural construction. Some opinions emphasized improving the capacity of the Association for grassroots cadres, especially the skills of applying digital technology in agricultural production and consumption.
Proposed solutions include: Linking member interests with Association activities; supporting loans, technical training, product communication on digital platforms; coordinating with technology enterprises to build a "Digital Agricultural Market", training on livestream sales, guiding online transactions, connecting production - consumption through the model "Association supporting farmers to do business". In particular, developing a network of "Typical Farmers Association members of Ho Chi Minh City" to spread the model of modern and integrated agriculture.
Standing Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association Do Ngoc Huy said that the comments all reflect the thoughts and aspirations of farmer members, which is an important basis for the Content and Document Subcommittee to absorb and complete the documents to submit to the City Party Committee and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association before the official Congress takes place at the end of 2025.
