Ambassador Nguyen Duc Thang greets Governor of Ahmadi province, discusses oil and gas and local cooperation between Vietnam and Kuwait

Ambassador Nguyen Duc Thang presents a gift to Governor of Ahmadi province Homoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Located in the south of Kuwait, bordering Saudi Arabia, Ahmadi was the first place in Kuwait to discover oil (1938), laying the foundation for the prosperous development of this country to become a world oil exporting power. Ahmadi has the second largest area and is the second most populous province in Kuwait, attracting many foreign workers to work in the oil and gas industry, including a number of Vietnamese experts and engineers.

Ahmadi Province has cooperative relations with Ho Chi Minh City. The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2010 and several delegations from Ho Chi Minh City visited Ahmadi in 2022 and 2023.

Thanking His Excellency Homoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah for taking the time to welcome him, Ambassador Nguyen Duc Thang expressed his impression of the development scale of Kuwait's oil industry, which is clearly demonstrated in Ahmadi province with many leading corporations and companies operating branches, along with developed residential areas serving the daily life of the community of experts and workers in the oil and gas industry working here. The Ambassador and the Governor discussed oil and gas cooperation between Vietnam and Kuwait, agreeing that this pillar of cooperation still has much room to expand, meeting the needs of each country and adapting to the new energy security context of the world.

Referring to local relations and emphasizing the cooperation potential of Ho Chi Minh City, Ambassador Nguyen Duc Thang hoped that Mr. Homoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah would arrange time to visit and witness the remarkable development of the City in particular and Vietnam in general. In addition, the Ambassador also hoped that Ahmadi province would strengthen local cooperation activities in the context of Vietnam and Kuwait carrying out many activities to celebrate major milestones, especially the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1976 - 2026).

Mr. Homoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said that Ahmadi province has been and is an important administrative area for Kuwait, bringing many development values ​​both economically and culturally. Governor Homoud Jaber affirmed his readiness to welcome Vietnamese delegations and said that many friends and relatives mentioned Vietnam as an attractive tourist destination, so he will take time to bring his family to visit Vietnam in the near future.
