Quang Nam provides medical examination and treatment and presents gifts to people in Sekong province (Laos)

During the trip, the delegation mobilized philanthropists in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang City to support free surgeries for 200 cases of cataract and pterygium; presented 300 gifts including necessities, school supplies, clothes... to students and people in difficult circumstances; sponsored 100 Sawyer mini water filters for daily use. The total value of the gifts and support was about 700 million VND.

Quang Nam Provincial Department of Health and Quang Nam Northern Mountainous Region General Hospital organized general medical examination and treatment for about 1,500 officials and residents of Sekong Province. The examination focused on general internal medicine, digestive system, cardiovascular system, endocrinology, general surgery, musculoskeletal system, electrocardiography, ultrasound and provided free medicine.

According to Mr. Tran Van Mai, Chairman of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Quang Nam Province, the program aims to share difficulties with the people of Sekong Province, while contributing to consolidating and deepening the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two twinned provinces of Quang Nam - Sekong. This is also a practical activity to promote the role of the Association in mobilizing social resources for people-to-people diplomacy.

On this occasion, doctors from both countries also exchanged professional experiences. The Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Quang Nam province and the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association of Sekong province had a meeting to evaluate the results of cooperation in the past year and discuss plans for coordinating people-to-people diplomacy activities in the coming time.
