On December 23, the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee held its second conference of the 18th term, 2024-2029. Attending the conference were Tran Sy Thanh, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee, and Chairman of the Hanoi City People's Committee; and Nguyen Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee.
At the conference, delegates heard a report from the Chairman of the City People's Committee, Tran Sy Thanh, summarizing some of the outstanding achievements in the city's socio -economic development in 2024. The city has completed the development of mechanisms and policies, creating new development spaces for the capital city, such as the Law on the Capital City, the Hanoi Capital City Planning, and the General Planning of the Capital City... The city has completed 23 out of 24 planned targets, with 6 targets exceeding the plan...
Emphasizing that 2025 is a year of many important events for the country, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee requested the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Fatherland Front Committee to continue consolidating and building the great national unity bloc. Focus on disseminating the guiding ideology and direction of the Party and General Secretary To Lam regarding the new era – the era of national progress; Regarding the implementation of resolutions of Party congresses at all levels, in conjunction with the 10 work programs of the 17th City Party Committee; Resolution No. 15-NQ/TƯ of the Politburo on the direction and tasks for the development of Hanoi Capital City until 2030, with a vision to 2045; the amended Law on the Capital City of Hanoi in 2024...
Furthermore, we will continue to improve the quality of campaigns and patriotic emulation movements; implement the " Month of Action for the Poor"; organize the "National Unity Day" well in residential areas; coordinate activities to show gratitude and care for war veterans, policy beneficiaries, and people in difficult and vulnerable circumstances in society; and promptly implement relief activities. We will further enhance the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in social supervision and criticism; implement grassroots democracy regulations; guide people in building and strictly implementing community agreements and self-governance models in accordance with the law, contributing to the building of the government. We will guide the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in providing feedback on the documents of the Party Congresses at all levels and the 14th National Congress of the Party. Implementing preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and the election of deputies to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
In his 2024 work report, the Standing Vice Chairman of the City's Fatherland Front Committee, Nguyen Sy Truong, emphasized that in 2024, the City's Fatherland Front focused on guiding and directing the organization of the Fatherland Front Congresses at all levels for the 2024-2029 term, ensuring compliance with guidelines, requirements, and planned schedules, and applying information technology in the congress organization process. The Fatherland Front coordinated with the City People's Committee to complete the construction and repair of 714 solidarity houses for poor households and those with difficult circumstances, contributing to the goal of eliminating 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses in the city. Social welfare work, including timely visits and support for victims affected by natural disasters and incidents, especially after the city was impacted by Typhoon No. 3, was recognized and highly appreciated by the people. The work of monitoring, social criticism, and contributing to the building of the Party and government by the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political and social organizations at all levels in 2024 was carried out in accordance with regulations and consistent with the functions and tasks of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Concluding the conference, the Chairwoman of the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee, Nguyen Lan Huong, requested that the Fatherland Front system at all levels in the city continue to seriously implement the Resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels, the Resolutions, Directives, and Conclusions of the Central Committee, the city, and localities; especially the guiding ideology of the Party and General Secretary To Lam on the new era: the era of national progress; and Resolution No. 43-NQ/TƯ of the 13th Central Committee of the Party on "Continuing to promote the tradition and strength of national unity, building our country to be increasingly prosperous and happy".
Timely concretization of tasks under the responsibility of the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels, and widespread dissemination of information to every citizen, member, and union member. Promoting the propaganda publications of the Fatherland Front at all levels; improving the effectiveness of propaganda work, grasping public opinion, and spreading positive activities and exemplary models in the community. In the immediate future, the Fatherland Front and its member organizations at all levels will coordinate and focus resources, preparing plans to visit, encourage, and give gifts to policy beneficiary families, the poor, and those in difficult circumstances during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake (2015). The Fatherland Front at all levels will supervise to ensure timely payment and support to the right people and the right beneficiaries.
The conference unanimously agreed to add three members to the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee for the 2024-2029 term. Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee, will join the 18th term of the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee for the 2024-2029 term, replacing Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, who has transferred to another position.
