The sensational wedding of a 75-year-old man with more than 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren

On February 25, which was also the 50th wedding anniversary, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Linh (75 years old) and Mrs. Phan Thi Lan (70 years old), residing in Yen Phu hamlet, Nghia Lam commune, Nghia Dan district ( Nghe An ) held a wedding with the participation of many children, officials of both families, and neighbors.

"We have lived together for 50 years, have 8 children and dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but on the wedding day, my wife and I were still as emotional as the simple wedding ceremony 50 years ago. Holding my wife's hand and kissing her cheek, I still felt trembling. I was very emotional. Because this was a perfect wedding, just like what my wife and I always wanted. Thank you for everyone's blessings," Mr. Linh shared.

In 1965, Mr. Linh and Mrs. Lan's family left their hometown in Hung Chinh commune, Hung Nguyen district (Nghe An) to start a business in western Nghe An, and the two became neighbors. On this land, the two became husband and wife.

"In the past, when things were difficult, our wedding was simple, with only vegetables and cassava mixed with rice. After the wedding, my wife and I were given a temporary house by relatives and neighbors. Our family's life depended on agriculture , it was very hard," Mr. Linh shared.

Mr. Linh and his wife had 8 children (5 boys, 3 girls) born one after another. Despite their difficult life, the couple always tried to work hard and live in harmony. Their 8 children later grew up to do many different jobs such as business, teaching, etc. Their eldest son is 50 years old this year.

Mr. Linh and his wife spent their youth migrating to many places such as Vinh city, Ho Chi Minh city, then to Quy Hop district (Nghe An) to make a living and finally, Nghia Lam commune, Nghia Dan district was the place he chose to live and work.

Sharing more with Dan Tri reporter about the wedding plan, Mr. Linh said: "This year I am 75 years old, my wife is 70 years old, and my eldest son is also 50 years old. The children and grandchildren plan to celebrate their grandparents' longevity. However, I am a cheerful person, do not want to celebrate longevity, afraid of bothering people around to give red envelopes. Thinking that this year is the 50th wedding anniversary, my wife and I changed the idea of ​​celebrating longevity to planning a meaningful wedding, so that the children and grandchildren can gather together."

According to the plan, Mr. Linh and his wife spent about 40 million VND to buy food, rent a tent, sound, lighting and a car to pick up the bride. The guests were children, relatives, close neighbors and some close friends. When inviting guests, Mr. Linh also set the condition "free food, no envelopes, whoever is happy will return it".

He asked his paternal and maternal siblings, children and grandchildren to prepare 30 dishes. Notably, during the wedding ceremony, Mr. Linh rented a private car to pick up Mrs. Lan from his mother-in-law's house 5km away. Mr. Linh's parents had passed away, as had his father-in-law, so when he came to "ask for the bride", only his 90-year-old mother-in-law was there.

The image of Mr. Linh wearing a white suit, holding his wife's hand, radiant in a traditional Vietnamese dress, smiling brightly as he entered the wedding hall made everyone happy, clapping and cheering. Mr. Linh and his wife were praised for looking much younger than their 70 and 75 years of age.

At the wedding party, many guests brought flowers to give and congratulate the bride and groom, took souvenir photos, ate, drank, and sang happily.

"My wife and I are very happy and joyful that the wedding was a success. Everyone was present and blessed us. Now I just hope that we will always be healthy and live happily with our children and grandchildren," Mr. Linh confided.
