Việt NamViệt Nam05/03/2024

After completing a general vocational training course, Mr. Dinh Van Dien (Bo-Chu Pau village, Kong Long Khong commune) became a highly skilled mason, confidently taking on construction contracts for local housing projects.

Mr. Dien said: His family only has more than 6 sao of sugarcane, so his income is not much. Previously, he did all kinds of jobs to earn extra money to cover his living expenses. In 2022, he decided to join a bricklayer training course organized by the District VocationalEducation and Continuing Education Center.

After more than 2 months of apprenticeship, Mr. Dien boldly established a construction team of 6-7 members to undertake housing projects, fences, and community houses in the commune. In 2023, he received 7 housing projects. Since the beginning of the year, he has undertaken 4 housing projects. This helps Mr. Dien and the members of the construction team have stable jobs and income.

Similarly, thanks to participating in a small-capacity tractor repair training course, Mr. Dinh Thach (village 3, Kong Pla commune) can repair agricultural machinery himself. Not only does he save a sum of money on annual machinery repair costs, Mr. Thach also has additional income from repairing damaged machinery for villagers.

More notably, he also opened a repair shop at home and taught vocational skills to young people in the village to help them have stable jobs, take care of their business, stay away from alcohol and other social evils.

According to Mr. Tran Van Nhon - Chairman of the People's Committee of Kong Long Khong Commune: Participating in rural labor training courses has helped local ethnic minority households gradually change their awareness in production and business. In particular, high-yield rice and sugarcane growing classes help people confidently apply their knowledge and understanding to improve crop productivity.

"The diversity of training occupations suitable to the actual needs of the locality has contributed to changing the occupational structure, increasing income, and improving people's lives" - Chairman of the People's Committee of Kong Long Khong commune affirmed.

Based on the review of vocational training registration needs of rural workers, the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education coordinates with the District Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to develop a vocational training plan.

Mr. Bui Tien Phuong - Director of the Center - Information: In 2023, from the funding source of 2 National Target Programs for socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, sustainable poverty reduction, the Center opened 13 vocational training classes under 3 months (10 agricultural classes and 3 non-agricultural classes) with 369 students attending. Mainly occupations such as: planting and caring for coffee; growing sugarcane, high-yield rice; growing safe vegetables; raising and preventing diseases for buffaloes and cows; using veterinary drugs in livestock; repairing small-capacity plows, bricklayers...

According to Mr. Bui Tien Phuong, the “hands-on” training method helps students understand, absorb and apply easily in practice. Therefore, upon completing vocational training courses, most students have gradually changed their thinking and working methods, know how to apply science and technology to production, use new varieties, and techniques for taking care of plants and animals to bring high productivity; at the same time, they know how to repair machinery at home, contributing to reducing costs and increasing income.

“After vocational training, we also proactively coordinate with communes and towns to integrate resources from national target programs to help people develop their learned professions better, and work with businesses to create jobs for students after completing the course,” Mr. Phuong informed.

Mr. Le Duy Kien, Head of the District's Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, assessed: Vocational training has initially brought about results, especially in ethnic minority areas, creating conditions for rural workers to have jobs, increase income and stabilize their lives, contributing to the district's sustainable poverty reduction.

“From the capital sources of the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2024, the district is implementing a plan to implement a project on vocational education and sustainable employment development. Accordingly, communes, towns and relevant agencies and units continue to investigate, survey, collect statistics and forecast the vocational training needs of workers to develop vocational training plans suitable to the labor needs and socio-economic situation of the district,” added the Head of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of the district.
