The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced the orientation to promote international cooperation in education and training, emphasizing the strengthening of management and quality assurance for joint training programs.
Strengthen management and ensure the quality of affiliate programs
According to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc, international cooperation in education and training plays an important role, directly contributing to economic growth and national development. This is an inevitable trend, an urgent requirement in the process of innovation and improving the quality of human resource training.
Currently, many domestic universities have established a foothold in the international training system, implementing more than 400 joint programs with about 140,000 students, making an important contribution to providing high-quality human resources for businesses and the economy.
Mr. Phuc suggested that schools and departments of education and training continue to promote their strengths and open more quality joint programs that are linked to the needs of businesses and society.
At the same time, he also noted that localities and training facilities need to pay attention to the management of foreign language, information technology, life skills, and study abroad consulting centers in accordance with regulations; and strengthen inspection and examination to ensure quality and the rights of learners.
"The key is still to build a strong team of lecturers and teachers, because this is the force that directly implements international cooperation programs. This is a prerequisite for international cooperation in education to be effective and meet the requirements of developing high-quality human resources," Mr. Phuc emphasized.
Build at least two prestigious international university branches in Vietnam
Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Education and Training) Nguyen Thu Thuy said that the ministry will continue to strongly implement major policies in Resolution 59 on international integration and Resolution 71 on breakthrough development in education and training, considering international cooperation as a strategic pillar.
By 2030, Vietnam aims to have over 20% of its training programs linked to schools in the world's top 500; build at least two branches of prestigious international universities in Vietnam; expand UNESCO's global learning city network; and improve the international integration capacity of its staff and lecturers.
According to Ms. Thuy, from 2023 to now, the Ministry of Education and Training has signed 47 international documents, including 18 international treaties and 29 international cooperation agreements; signed 8 agreements on diploma recognition with many countries such as France, Russia, China, Austria...
Foreign investment in education continues to grow, mainly concentrated in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, with the participation of partners from the US, Singapore, and South Korea.
Joint training programs have now reached nearly 500 programs, mainly in the field of economics and management and are expanding to science and technology.
Besides sending students abroad, Vietnamese universities are also increasingly attracting international students and lecturers.
On average, each school currently welcomes about 39 long-term international students each year; a team of experts and lecturers from Korea, the US, Japan, and France are collaborating in teaching and research at many major universities such as Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and RMIT University Vietnam.
