The mark of 'Green Summer Volunteer' in the border commune of Dak O: When you live, people love you, when you do, people trust you, when you go, people remember you!

(DN) - "Living with the people, working with the people, and leaving with the people" is the slogan of the Youth Union of the Vietnam Aviation Academy in the "Green Summer" Volunteer Campaign in 2025. Promoting the spirit of shock and youthful enthusiasm, these days, the Academy's volunteer force in the Dak O Commune Front has been carrying out many practical and meaningful activities, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of people in the border area of ​​Dong Nai province.

Many practical activities towards the community

Building “Youth Houses” for poor households in Village 7 and “Youth Wells” for people in Team 1, Bu Khon Village are two key projects in this year’s “Green Summer” Volunteer Campaign of the Youth Union of Vietnam Aviation Academy in Dak O Commune. Therefore, right from the first day of the campaign, volunteers went to the area, directly participating with the people in leveling the ground, digging sand, mixing mortar, building houses and wells.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Tam, resident of village 7, who received support from the group to build a house on this occasion, shared: His family is a poor household in the locality. His previous house was degraded and because of its low foundation, it was often flooded every time it rained.

“In addition to the 45 million VND supported by the youth volunteer group, my family also contributed to raise the foundation and build a living room to make the house more spacious. With a new house, my family can feel secure in production and stabilize our lives,” said Mr. Tam.

At team 1, Bu Khon village, from early morning, the drilling machine has been diligently drilling down every meter of rock and soil to search for clean water. Right next to it, the green summer soldiers are also divided into groups to clear rocks and soil, mix mortar, build well yards, etc. Sweat drenches the backs of the volunteers' green shirts. Both people and machines race against time to soon have a clean water source for the people to use.

Even though it is summer vacation, if anyone passes by Dinh Bo Linh Primary School (Dak O commune), they can still hear the faint sounds of children reading. It is an English and IT summer class taught by students of the Foreign Language Faculty of the Academy. The children are taught by the "teachers" to get acquainted with new words, practice communication skills and basic knowledge.

Phuc Thien Di, a student at Dinh Bo Linh Primary School, excitedly said: The summer class is so much fun. The teachers teach in a way that is easy to understand. I hope this class lasts a long time!

In addition to the above activities, within the framework of the "Green Summer" Campaign, the Dak O Commune Front Team also installed a playground for children at Dinh Bo Linh Primary School; cleaned up some roads; participated in supporting local digital transformation work; organized social security activities, "Repaying gratitude" on the occasion of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27); coordinated in organizing propaganda and soft skills education for children; examined and provided free medicine to people...

Live your youth to the fullest, contribute and grow up

For many years, the “Green Summer” Volunteer Campaign has been a journey to bring knowledge, youth and love to the community. This is also an opportunity for young people to live fully, contribute and grow, and learn more meaningful lessons about compassion, solidarity and responsibility.

Volunteer Tran Viet Phuong Anh, in charge of the English summer class, shared: We hope that during our time here, we will be able to impart all the knowledge we have accumulated to the children. We hope that the children will have a useful time studying and playing meaningfully with the volunteer students.

With the motto "When you live, people love you, when you work, people trust you, when you go, people remember you", although the weather has been constantly changing in recent days due to the impact of storm No. 3 Wipha, each volunteer soldier still does their best in each assigned task. Soldier Vu Cao Lam said: "I put all my passion and enthusiasm into what I do with the desire to bring benefits to the people of Dak O. Not only me but everyone here is enthusiastic, everyone tries to complete the volunteer program in the best way possible".
