Proposal to increase capacity by 50% at Dong Nai's largest waste treatment area

(DN) - In the face of the situation that many domestic waste treatment areas in the area have reached their design capacity, while some treatment areas have not yet received waste, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has proposed that the Provincial People's Committee consider allowing the scale of the waste recycling station to make compost at Quang Trung Waste Treatment Area (Gia Kiem commune) to increase to 1,800 tons/day, expected to be put into operation from the beginning of 2027.

Currently, Quang Trung Waste Treatment Area is the largest unit receiving and treating domestic waste in the province with a capacity of 1,200 tons/day. In recent times, due to the increasing amount of waste generated, while some other treatment projects are slow to complete and stop receiving, this treatment area has to maintain 3 shifts of operation according to the design capacity.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Tran Trong Toan, it is necessary to soon allow an increase in the capacity of this waste treatment area to ensure stable waste reception and treatment, avoiding waste backlog causing environmental pollution.

Mr. Tran Anh Dung, General Director of Sonadezi Services Joint Stock Company, the investor of the treatment area, said that the enterprise is ready to implement the project to increase capacity immediately after receiving permission from the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Construction and the local government to adjust the construction planning; at the same time, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will support the adjustment procedures. With support to resolve these two procedures, the enterprise will complete them within 2 years from the date of approval.
