Dong Nai and Can Tho provinces signed cooperation agreement on agriculture

(DN) - On the afternoon of November 6, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai province held a signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding with the working delegation of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho city. The goal is to strengthen cooperation, promote regional linkages; create conditions to expand the market and promote the consumption of key agricultural products and strengths of Dong Nai province and Can Tho city.

Dong Nai has the strength to develop industrial crops and fruit trees with many types of crops with the largest acreage in the country such as cashew, durian, tissue culture banana... With the province's total livestock herd reaching more than 4 million heads, the total poultry herd of more than 36.2 million heads, Dong Nai province is the livestock capital of the country.

Currently, the whole province has 490 OCOP products with 3 stars or more from 323 entities. To date, the whole province has more than 2,600 hectares of crops certified by VietGAP; 205 farms and 3 livestock cooperatives certified by VietGAHP, supplying the market with 86,600 tons of pork/year, nearly 30,400 tons of chicken/year and nearly 227 million eggs.

Agriculture and rural areas still play a key role in Can Tho City and this locality still has a lot of room to develop aquaculture, cultivation and livestock. The city has a variety of key agricultural products such as: large rice growing areas, many fruit specialties, 72km of coastline...

Both localities have their own agricultural strengths, so there is great room for cooperation. Enterprises of Dong Nai province and Can Tho city have had many trade and cooperation activities in the field of supplying agricultural products and food.

Dong Nai province and Can Tho city are both raw material areas and consumption markets for each other. The signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai province and Can Tho city; between enterprises and production facilities of the two localities aims to promote the consumption of key agricultural products and strengths of each locality. This is an important basis for enterprises of the two localities to build long-term and sustainable cooperation.
