Through working with mine owners, the Department of Agriculture and Environment recorded the amount of filling materials of nearly 13 million m³, mainly filling soil and weathered rock recovered during the process of stripping the cover layer to exploit stone.

Some mines with large volumes of materials include: Tan Cang 9 about 3.5 million m³; Tan Cang 6 about 3.4 million m³; Tan Cang 7 about 2.5 million m³; Thien Tan 9 about 2 million m³; Tan Cang 1 about 1.5 million m³.

In addition, mines such as Thien Tan 5, Thien Tan 7, Thien Tan 4, Tan Cang 2, Thien Tan 3, Ap Mieu, Nui Nua, Tan Cang 3, Thanh Phu 2 have a volume of fill materials from 50-250 thousand m³.

Currently, many mineral mines have a lot of residual soil and weathered rock, affecting the stone mining area serving key projects in the South. In the photo: Stone mining in Phuoc Tan ward. Photo: Hoang Loc

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in order to exploit construction stone to serve key projects in the South with high demand, it is necessary to first release the volume of backlog of filling materials at the mines. However, currently, project management boards and contractors have not contacted mining enterprises to recover and use this material source, affecting the progress of construction stone exploitation.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment and businesses agreed to recommend the Provincial People's Committee to notify project management boards and contractors to proactively coordinate work to receive and use the volume of recovered fill materials, and at the same time create a surface for stone exploitation.

In case after November 15, if the project management boards do not have any written response on the need for filling materials, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will synthesize and report to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and direction on the next handling plan.
