Promote trade promotion activities to connect the consumption of agricultural products and OCOP products between Hai Phong city and Can Tho

(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the afternoon of June 3, at the Department of Industry and Trade of Hai Phong, a conference was held to deploy trade promotion activities to connect the consumption of typical agricultural products and OCOP products between Hai Phong city and Can Tho city.

The conference aims to strengthen links and support the consumption of agricultural products, especially OCOP products and durian, one of the key products of Can Tho city, in the Hai Phong market.

Speaking at the Conference, Director of Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Van Thanh said that in recent years, implementing the proposal from Can Tho Department of Industry and Trade, Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade has closely coordinated with this locality through many inter-provincial trade conferences, promoting trade promotion activities, creating favorable conditions for businesses of the two localities to connect supply and demand, expand consumption markets and bring typical products into the modern distribution system.

In 2024 and 2025 alone, the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade organized a working group with the participation of many enterprises producing and trading key products such as rice, coffee, bird's nest, wooden floors, cosmetics, paint, fish sauce, dried seafood, cosmetics, etc. to attend trade connection conferences in Can Tho. At these events, Hai Phong proactively introduced the consumption needs of the market and supported output connections for 16 product groups of Can Tho enterprises.

Along with trade connection activities, the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade has actively mobilized supermarkets, trade centers, wholesale markets and commercial enterprises in the area to participate in consuming Can Tho's typical products. At the same time, the Department also coordinated with related departments and branches such as the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Department of Health... to promote propaganda to agricultural businesses and food service establishments about the quality and potential of products from this Southwestern region. In addition, many organizations, unions and localities such as the City Farmers' Association, the Cooperative Union, the City Labor Federation, the People's Committees of districts, towns and Thuy Nguyen city were also mobilized to coordinate in implementing information and propaganda work to members, as well as production, processing and business establishments at traditional markets. These synchronous efforts have contributed to strongly promoting the consumption of agricultural products and OCOP products of Can Tho in the Hai Phong market.

Many enterprises in Hai Phong have been playing an important role in bringing Can Tho agricultural products to the Northern market and exporting, typically: Minh Khai Trading Joint Stock Company, Duong Minh Import-Export Joint Stock Company are units that regularly import and distribute seasonal fruits, processed agricultural products, rice and processed seafood products such as: red tilapia, snakehead fish, eel, striped catfish, frog, basa fish, catfish, jellyfish, shrimp, field crab... In addition, many other typical products of Can Tho city such as rice, rice paper... are also available at the supermarket system in Hai Phong, contributing to expanding the market share for goods from the Southwest region in the Northern Coastal region.

At the Conference, Director of Can Tho Department of Industry and Trade Le Ha Son suggested that Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade continue to pay attention to and research expanding distribution channels and importing agricultural products, processed foods, and typical goods of Can Tho for consumption in Hai Phong market as well as for export.

The Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho emphasized that Can Tho currently has many products with quality, stable output and long-term supply capacity, suitable for the consumption needs of the Northern market. Strengthening cooperation not only helps businesses of the two localities develop but also contributes to promoting regional linkage chains, improving product value and competitiveness in the market.

At the conference, representatives of businesses from the two localities actively exchanged and discussed market demand and product supply capacity. Many Can Tho businesses introduced key products such as rice, fish cakes, tra fish, canned fruit products, canned lotus seeds, durian, brown rice, instant tea, medicinal herbs from agricultural products, etc. and expressed their desire to cooperate in distribution in Hai Phong. Hai Phong businesses highly appreciated the potential of goods from Can Tho and are studying plans to import products, ready to coordinate consumption and export in the near future./.
