Accelerating preparations for SOMS 16 and AMMS 8 Conferences

On the morning of August 6, in Hanoi, Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet had a working session with units under the Administration on preparations for the 16th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Sports (SOMS 16) and the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports (AMMS 8).

Meeting to report on preparations for SOMS 16 and AMMS 8 on the morning of August 6.

Reporting on the progress of the implementation of the tasks, the representative of the international cooperation department of the Vietnam Sports Administration Office said: the unit has proactively worked with the ASEAN Secretariat to implement detailed contents according to the agenda of AMMS 8, SOMS 16, related conferences and activities of the ASEAN cooperation program and partners.

Along with that, coordinate with the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to submit to the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to sign and promulgate the Regulations on the operation of the Organizing Committee of AMMS 8 and related Conferences in Vietnam (with comments from related units). The unit also deployed to send invitations to attend AMMS 8, SOMS 16 and related Conferences to ASEAN member countries, Timor Leste, Japan, China, and partners attending the open session at the 16th Senior Sports Officials Meeting (SOMS 16).

Communication work is identified as a key factor in spreading information about the event. A representative of the Sports Information and Communication Center said that the script, trailer, clip and event identity have been completed. Media channels, especially the website of the Vietnam Sports Administration, are promoting the posting of news and articles to continuously update the progress and activities of AMMS 8 and SOMS 16.

Regarding logistics and finance, specific tasks have been assigned. Units are urgently building and reviewing budget estimates, and working with hotels to ensure that the selection of accommodation and reception locations meets the highest standards.

The meeting also recorded opinions and shared experiences of representatives of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in preparing for work areas such as sending invitations, reception, accommodation, signing documents at the event, etc.

Concluding the meeting, Director Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet emphasized: In the last months of 2025, the workload is very large, especially in which SOMS 16 and AMMS 8 are events that affirm the role and position of Vietnam in the region, while promoting sports cooperation among member countries. Therefore, the Director requested relevant units to enhance their sense of responsibility, strengthen coordination, actively join hands to overcome difficulties, and complete assigned tasks.

For tasks beyond the authority of the Vietnam Sports Administration, the Director requested research, review, and report to the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. The Director emphasized: departments need to closely follow, complete content, and prepare in detail, especially for financial and logistical work to ensure the conferences are successful.
