Recorded in the early morning and evening of October 7, in Can Tho City, many markets, roads, and houses in the city center were flooded nearly half a meter, disrupting the lives of hundreds of households. Ninh Kieu Wharf (Ninh Kieu Ward) is also in a similar situation. On National Highway 1A, through Nga Bay Ward, Can Tho City (formerly Hau Giang Province), floodwaters combined with tides caused flooding of more than 1km, with some spots being nearly 0.5m deep.

Currently, local forces are deploying plans to warn of the danger of deep flooding so that people and vehicles can be careful when passing through. According to the Southern Institute of Water Resources, the main flood peak in 2025 will take place from October 8 to 10. In Tan Chau, it will reach about 3.60-3.80m, in Chau Doc it will reach about 3.40-3.60m. Currently, the water source of the Mekong River at Tan Chau and Chau Doc is increasing at high intensity. The cause is due to the impact of storm No. 10 occurring in the lower Mekong River basin coinciding with the high tide period.

Faced with the above situation, many localities in the Mekong Delta are focusing on implementing response solutions to reduce damage. In An Thanh commune ( Can Tho city), over the past two days, local forces including police, Youth Union and local people have actively reinforced and shored up dike sections at risk of landslides.

In Vinh Long, on October 7, people living along the Mang Thit River (Tan Long Hoi Commune) were busy harvesting vegetables and fish in some ponds to avoid flooding and damage to crops and livestock in case of river overflow... The leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Vinh Long Province said that the agricultural sector recommends that localities with fruit gardens need to regularly check the dike system. Gardeners should proactively harvest ripe fruits early to minimize damage when the water rises. In Dong Thap, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested functional agencies to inspect riverbank areas at risk of landslides to promptly warn, post danger signs and organize the evacuation of people to safe places. Check and ensure the safety of irrigation works, dikes, disaster prevention works, drainage works...

People in Dong Thap, Vinh Long provinces and Can Tho city requested local authorities to quickly update the developments of the main flood season combined with high tides, and promptly issue specific warnings for each area such as: roads, markets, islands on the river... that are threatened. Thereby, helping people proactively have effective response plans.
