Observations made in the early morning and late evening of October 7th in Can Tho City showed that many markets, roads, and houses in the city center were heavily flooded, with water levels reaching nearly half a meter, disrupting the lives of hundreds of households. Ninh Kieu Wharf (Ninh Kieu Ward) was in a similar situation. On National Highway 1A, the section passing through Nga Bay Ward, Can Tho City (formerly Hau Giang Province), floodwaters combined with tides caused flooding for more than 1km, with some points submerged to a depth of nearly 0.5m.

Local authorities are currently implementing warning systems to alert people and vehicles to the dangers of deep flooding when passing through. According to the Southern Institute of Water Resources Science , the peak of the 2025 flood season will occur from October 8th to 10th. In Tan Chau, the water level will reach approximately 3.60-3.80m, and in Chau Doc, it will reach approximately 3.40-3.60m. Currently, the water level in the upstream Mekong River at Tan Chau and Chau Doc is increasing rapidly. This is due to the impact of Typhoon No. 10, which occurred in the lower Mekong River basin coinciding with the high tide period.

In response to this situation, many localities in the Mekong Delta are focusing on implementing solutions to mitigate damage. In An Thanh commune (Can Tho city), over the past two days, local forces including the police, the Youth Union, and residents have been actively reinforcing and strengthening sections of dikes at risk of landslides.

In Vinh Long, on October 7-10, residents along the Mang Thit River (Tan Long Hoi commune) were busy harvesting vegetables and fish from ponds to prevent flooding and damage to crops and livestock in case the river overflows. Leaders of the Vinh Long Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment stated that the agricultural sector advises localities with orchards to regularly inspect the dike system. Orchard owners should proactively harvest ripe fruits early to minimize losses when water levels rise. In Dong Thap, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested relevant agencies to inspect riverbank areas at risk of landslides to promptly warn, erect danger signs, and organize the relocation of residents to safe areas. They also emphasized the need to inspect and ensure the safety of irrigation works, dikes, and flood control and drainage structures.

Residents of Dong Thap, Vinh Long provinces and Can Tho city have requested that local authorities quickly update information on the main flood season combined with high tides, and promptly issue specific warnings for areas such as roads, markets, and river islands that are threatened. This would help people proactively develop effective response plans.
