The global conference on AI weapons was organized and hosted by Austria in Vienna.
At the global conference on artificial intelligence (AI) weapons, held over two days on April 29 and 30 in Vienna, Austria, experts assessed that AI has the potential to revolutionize warfare, similar to gunpowder and atomic bombs, making conflicts between humans unimaginably different and more dangerous than ever before.
The conference statement affirmed “a strong commitment to urgent cooperation with all stakeholders to develop an international legal instrument for regulating autonomous weapon systems.”
The summary statement, which will be sent to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, also emphasizes that the world “has a responsibility to act and to establish rules to protect humanity.”
The global conference on AI weapons, organized and hosted by Austria in Vienna, attracted approximately 1,000 delegates, including politicians and experts, from more than 140 countries worldwide.
