On May 26, the Standing Committee of the City People's Council sent a document to the City People's Committee regarding the shortage of construction sand in the area, warning of the risk of affecting the construction progress of key projects and the city's economic growth target in 2025.
According to the Standing Committee of the City People's Council, since the beginning of the year, the supply of construction sand in the area has become increasingly scarce, prices have increased and become more complicated. This situation has caused many difficulties for investors, project management boards and contractors in the construction process, seriously affecting the progress of key projects as well as construction activities in general. "Failure to promptly find a fundamental solution to resolve the above situation may slow down the disbursement of public investment capital, negatively impact the growth index of the industry - construction sector and affect the city's economic growth target of over 10% this year," the document stated.
Based on the report of the Urban Committee, the City People's Council, the Standing Committee of the City People's Council requested the City People's Committee to direct departments, branches and sectors to urgently review, propose urgent solutions and develop long-term plans to ensure stable supply of construction sand in particular and construction materials in general, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development of the city. In the immediate future, the City People's Council requested the City People's Committee to proactively coordinate and discuss with the People's Committee of Quang Nam province to inspect the operations of sand mines currently licensed for exploitation in this province; at the same time, study and propose plans to temporarily increase exploitation capacity, contributing to stabilizing the construction sand market in the area.
