Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics implements human resource training project ordered by the city

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics has just officially launched a project to train international-level human resources in the finance-banking sector, one of the sectors ordered by Ho Chi Minh City for the period 2020-2035.

To participate in the project, students need to have an IELTS English level of 6.0 or higher.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) has just officially issued and implemented the International Human Resources Training Program in the Finance-Banking sector. This is the 5th component project, training international human resources in the Finance-Banking sector, under the Overall Project on International Human Resources Training (8 sectors) for the period 2020-2035 and building a shared university of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

The subjects selected to participate in the program are full-time university students who have been admitted to UEH in 2024 (course 50) in the following classes: finance, international finance, financial investment. Students voluntarily register to participate in the pilot training, have an IELTS English level of 6.0 or higher or other equivalent certificates. Students commit to completing the course, fulfilling obligations regarding working time, internship with a position appropriate to the field of expertise, in case of receiving a corresponding scholarship from the sponsor.

The number of students selected is from 30-40, based on the results of the 50th course, from high to low in case of many students registering. The training period lasts 3.5 years, including 124 credits with the full course tuition fee of 202-210 million VND. The curriculum is taught in English (except for Marxist-Leninist philosophy and Ho Chi Minh thought). The number of subjects taught by foreign lecturers is a maximum of 10.

Upon completion of the training program, students will be awarded a bachelor's degree in finance and banking by UEH (international level human resource training program). At the same time, students have the opportunity to receive a second degree from a foreign university based on the recognition of UEH's international training program if they meet the requirements and corresponding output standards.

Previously, in 2021, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision approving the overall project of training international-level human resources for 8 industries in the period of 2020-2035 and building a shared university. In which, component project 5 of training international-level human resources in the finance-banking industry was deployed by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City.

The objective of this component project is to design, develop a training program and propose the organization of international-level human resource training for the finance-banking sector in the period 2021-2035. Thereby, contributing to the development of a high-quality workforce, creating a competitive advantage and promoting economic growth for Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general in the process of integration into the global value chain; contributing to comprehensive innovation in education , meeting the trend of globalization of the workforce.

In addition to the above component project No. 5, many other universities also participate in implementing component projects under the overall project of Ho Chi Minh City. Specifically, including: University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) component project 1: training international-level human resources in the field of information and communication technology; Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education component project 2: training international human resources in the field of mechanics and automation; University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) component project 3: training international human resources in the field of artificial intelligence; Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics component project 4: training international human resources in the field of business administration; Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine component project 6: training international human resources in the field of health; Saigon University component project 7: training international human resources in the field of tourism; University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University) component project 8: training international human resources in the field of urban management; University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) component project 9 on shared university.

The component projects have been ordered by Ho Chi Minh City to be researched and built by higher education institutions according to the science and technology tasks. Up to now, 6 component projects have been accepted, 2 projects are being researched and will be accepted in 2025 and 1 project is being appraised and assigned tasks. To implement the accepted projects, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a plan to organize pilot training with component projects No. 1, 3, 5 and 8. Among them, component project No. 5 has just been implemented by Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics.
