"Eco-house" in the middle of U Minh Ha forest
In the past, Mr. Muoi Ngọt's family lived mainly by making bee hives, setting nets to catch fish, setting traps to catch turtles..., living an unstable life, "selling their faces to the ground and their backs to the sky" all year round. Since being U Minh Ha National Park assigned him to manage more than 60 hectares of forest land. Mr. Muoi Ngọt and his children came up with the idea of doing something new, both to preserve the forest and create a long-term livelihood.
Mr. Pham Duy Khanh, son of Mr. Muoi Ngọt, is very passionate about preserving and promoting the traditional profession of beekeeping.
So, the family started with a small service, initially fishing in the fields. Gradually, more and more visitors came, and the demand for food, rest, and experiences grew. Seeing many new opportunities, the family decided to expand into the Muoi Ngot community ecotourism site, which officially came into operation at the end of 2015. Up to now, after 10 years of development, Muoi Ngot community ecotourism has become an attractive destination for tourists when coming to Ca Mau.
With the typical space of U Minh Ha forest, Muoi Ngot tourist destination is truly an "ecological house", where people can slow down, listen to the sound of the forest, the wind, the birds blending together. Here, visitors can fish, cast nets, set traps to catch eels... The feeling of joy when catching "spoils of war" such as fresh freshwater fish, or when tasting drops of golden honey, fragrant with the scent of cajuput flowers just taken from wild bees... is an unforgettable experience.

In particular, Mr. Muoi Ngọt's family has a reasonable way of exploiting forest resources: only collecting honey seasonally, keeping a part of the land with a low-lying area of about 2 hectares to maintain the natural habitat of turtles, snakes, freshwater fish... Besides, they also plant thousands of papaya, orange, tangerine, and strawberry trees to create landscapes and clean food sources for visitors. This is a way of demonstrating a sense of responsibility, with the motto "doing tourism but not trading off the environment".
In addition, tourism promotion is focused on, with many diverse forms on social networking platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, TikTok. Along with images and videos introducing beautiful landscapes, cuisine or experiential activities, Muoi Ngot tourist destination also cleverly combines music to spread love for the homeland. Songs with sweet melodies about the land and people of Ca Mau are integrated into promotional clips, both bringing close emotions and evoking pride in the country. This creative approach helps the image of the land become more vivid, so that each visitor not only sees the landscape but also feels the "soul of the countryside" through music, thereby creating a deep impression and urging the desire to return and experience it directly.
Preserving cultural identity
Not only preserving the ecological space of the cajuput forest, Muoi Ngọt tourist destination also contributes to preserving and spreading the cultural values of the South by organizing experiential activities for tourists to better understand the life and culture of the local people.
Coming here, visitors can witness firsthand the profession of beekeeping - a national intangible cultural heritage, with the way of placing bees to build nests, carefully collecting every drop of sweet nectar from wild flowers and listening to stories about the "bee-eating" seasons - an experience that is hard to find elsewhere. In addition, they can also learn about Uncle Ba Phi's stories through exchanges and folk stories with unique cultural values. Visitors can enjoy country cuisine while listening to witty, honest stories to better understand the optimistic spirit and creativity of the people of the Ca Mau river region.

In particular, visitors can also enjoy Southern folk music - an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Listening to the music and singing in the vast space of the cajuput forest, they love the people and the land of Ca Mau even more, which is friendly, rustic and affectionate. In addition, the tour at Muoi Ngọt also opens up for visitors to learn about the historical relics in Lung Tram, where many stories of the time of "carrying swords to open up the country" and protecting the land of ancestors are imprinted.
In addition to the attraction that holds travelers' feet, each experience and each story at Muoi Ngọt is also an invisible thread connecting modernity with tradition, linking tourism with cultural preservation and arousing pride in the homeland.
Join hands to build our homeland
Not only an economic model , Muoi Ngot tourist site is also a vivid, typical proof of the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to build new countryside". From a saline, barren land, with difficult traffic routes and limited infrastructure..., thanks to the hands and will of people, this place has turned into a unique ecological destination, contributing to making the rural appearance of Da Bac more and more prosperous.
In particular, this model is closely linked to the spirit of the emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind" when contributing to creating jobs for many local people. These are the diligent forest workers, the boatmen who pick up and drop off guests on boats every day, the women who serve delicious home-cooked meals to diners, or the enthusiastic collaborators who introduce and sell local products... Muoi Ngọt tourist site has created jobs, helping them have more income and improve their lives.

After nearly 10 years of operation, Muoi Ngot has become a highlight of Ca Mau community tourism. The image of thousands of honeybee nests in the middle of the cajuput forest is not only a unique tourism product, but also shows the harmony between people and nature. Many international delegations, press, and travel companies have come to survey and highly appreciate it. This model also opens up a new direction for agricultural tourism in Ca Mau in particular, the Mekong Delta region and the whole country in general. In the period of 2021-2025, on average, this place welcomes 30,000-40,000 visitors per year, peaking on holidays and Tet holidays, it can welcome 3,000-5,000 visitors/day.
The story of Mr. Muoi Ngọt's family doing tourism is not only an example of overcoming difficulties to become a successful economy, but also a lesson in innovative thinking: knowing how to take advantage of local advantages, linking the economy with the environment and preserving the soul of the homeland, spreading the spirit of community. That is also a vivid image of the patriotic emulation movement in the renovation period: each person, each community contributes a "brick" to build a rich, civilized homeland of Ca Mau, confidently entering a new era with the whole country - the era of national development.
“Economic development must go hand in hand with preserving cultural identity and protecting forest resources. Muoi Ngot tourism is not only for making a living, but also for future generations to know about the traditional profession of beekeeping and to love U Minh Ha forest. We are proud to have turned this place into a destination for tourists to experience Southern culture in the most authentic way. In the future, we will invest more in infrastructure to serve tourists, expand experiential services, increase promotion through media channels and connect with travel companies. And of course, the work of preserving forest resources and sustainable development associated with green tourism is still the core task,” said Mr. Pham Duy Khanh, son of Mr. Muoi Ngot.
