Currently, Dien Bien province is managing 10 martyr cemeteries and 1 youth volunteer cemetery of the Nam Rom irrigation project.

In which, the cluster of 3 martyr cemeteries A1, Him Lam, Doc Lap are the burial places of the remains of martyrs who participated and sacrificed in the Dien Bien Phu campaign in the period of 1953 - 1954.

Tong Khao Martyrs' Cemetery is the burial place of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died during the anti-American resistance war in 6 provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and martyrs who died during the period of building and defending the Fatherland.

Over the years, the Party and State have paid special attention to leading and directing the work of searching for, collecting, and retrieving martyrs' remains and restoring works honoring martyrs, expressing gratitude, respect, and deep appreciation for the great contributions of heroic martyrs.

Every year, Dien Bien province coordinates with the Search and Collection Team of Martyrs' Graves of Military Region 2 to organize the reception, memorial service and burial of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died during the anti-American resistance war in 6 northern provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to be buried at Tong Khao Martyrs' Cemetery.

The province directed the departments, branches and localities in the province to collect information from the grassroots, verify, exhume and bury the martyrs' remains in martyr cemeteries throughout the province.

From 2021 to present, Dien Bien province has organized 3 gatherings to receive and bury the remains of 05 martyrs who died during the resistance war against France at Doc Lap martyrs' cemetery.

Identifying the management and care of works commemorating martyrs as a common, regular and continuous task, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province consider this both a sentiment and a responsibility, demonstrating the morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking", the deep gratitude of today's generation for the sacrifices of heroic martyrs who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, while educating the younger generation about revolutionary traditions.
