Northern Power Corporation ensures safe and stable electricity supply for the 2024 high school graduation exam.

The 2024 high school graduation exam will take place at the end of June. The power companies of 27 northern provinces and cities have proactively worked and coordinated with the Steering Committee and local examination boards to ensure electricity supply to all examination sites.

In May, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) safely and stably operated the power grid, ensuring electricity supply for people's lives and socio-economic development in 27 northern provinces and cities. Commercial electricity output reached 8.639 billion kWh, an increase of 18.44% compared to May 2023. For the first five months of 2024, commercial electricity output reached 38.393 billion kWh, an increase of 14.09% compared to the same period last year and achieving 40.44% of the annual plan assigned by the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN).

Regarding customer service operations, the entire Corporation received and processed electricity supply requests for 215 medium-voltage customers. The average time to process electricity-related procedures was 3.26 days, a decrease of 0.22 days compared to the same period in 2023. For the first five months of 2024, the entire Corporation supplied electricity to 927 medium-voltage customers. The average time to process electricity-related procedures was 3.32 days, a decrease of 0.19 days compared to the same period in 2023, and a decrease of 3.68 days compared to EVN's regulations.

The percentage of customers paying electricity bills without using cash reached 87.58% by May 2024, 0.45% higher than EVN's target for 2024; revenue through cashless payment channels reached 97.11%.

The Corporation continues to effectively implement Prime Minister 's Directive No. 20/CT-TTg on strengthening electricity saving during the period 2023-2025 and subsequent years; and the directives of Vietnam Electricity Group on electricity supply and efficient electricity use during the 2024 dry season. At the same time, it will strictly control meter reading and invoice issuance during the hot season to avoid errors for customers.

In the investment and construction of 110kV power projects, the Corporation has commenced 2 projects and commissioned 7 projects.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thien, General Director of EVNNPC, visited the Vinh Phuc Power Company's rapid response team participating in supporting the 500kV circuit 3 power line project at the construction site located at position 21, Ninh Cuong town, Truc Ninh district, Nam Dinh province.

In response to the urgent need to complete the 500kV Circuit 3 project from Quang Trach to Pho Noi as required by the Government and Vietnam Electricity Group, 38 rapid response teams with over 500 cadres and workers from the Northern Power Corporation departed on May 30, 2024, to support construction on the 500kV Circuit 3 project site. Recognizing this as a crucial task, the rapid response teams were selected from exemplary, capable, and volunteer electricians, ready to work under the sun and rain, operating in shifts (3 shifts, 4 teams) to contribute to the project's timely completion.

Use electricity wisely during peak hours.

In early June 2024, heavy rains and floods occurred in several mountainous provinces in the North, and the weather forecast for June and the following months indicates continued unpredictable developments. The Corporation issued a directive on proactively responding to heavy rains, flash floods, landslides, and flooding in the North. Units strictly followed the Corporation's directives, proactively implementing disaster response measures to ensure human safety and minimize property damage; monitoring weather information through mass media; and implementing the "four on-the-spot" principle to quickly resolve incidents and promptly restore electricity supply to customers.

To effectively fulfill the task of ensuring a safe and stable electricity supply for the high school graduation exam in 27 northern provinces, the Power Companies proactively worked and coordinated with the Steering Committee and local examination councils to gather information on the list, locations, and electricity supply needs, develop plans, and organize the best possible electricity supply for all examination sites and exam-related activities.

Hot weather is one of the main reasons for the increase in electricity bills for customers. Therefore, using electricity wisely and efficiently, especially during peak hours at noon (from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM) and in the evening (from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM), using air conditioners appropriately, only turning them on when absolutely necessary, and setting the temperature at 26-27 degrees Celsius or higher is essential. In addition, people should avoid using multiple high-power electrical appliances simultaneously during peak hours. The Northern Power Corporation hopes that customers and the public will strengthen solutions for safe, economical, and efficient electricity use; saving costs for customers while contributing to saving national resources.
