Decision No. 698/QD-TTg adjusting and supplementing the list of communes in Region III, Region II, Region I in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2025 has been approved in Decision No. 861/QD-TTg dated June 4, 2021 of the Prime Minister due to the arrangement of commune-level administrative units.
According to Decision No. 698/QD-TTg, Thang Quan commune, Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province is no longer in region I due to administrative boundary adjustment to establish Yen Son town, Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province; Quan Chu commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province is also no longer in region I due to merger into Quan Chu town, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province.
Decision No. 698/QD-TTg adds Yen Son town, Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province and Quan Chu town, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province to region I.
Correct the names of some administrative units
At the same time, Decision No. 698/QD-TTg corrects the names of districts and communes approved in Decision No. 861/QD-TTg dated June 4, 2021 of the Prime Minister due to the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels:
1- Tinh Bien district, An Giang province becomes Tinh Bien town, An Giang province;
2- Chon Thanh district, Binh Phuoc province becomes Chon Thanh town, Binh Phuoc province;
3- Yen Lam commune, Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province becomes Yen Lam town, Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province;
4- Phuc Son commune and Minh Quang commune of Chiem Hoa district, Tuyen Quang province become Phuc Son commune and Minh Quang commune of Lam Binh district, Tuyen Quang province.
Supplementing the list of communes in region I
Along with that, Decision No. 698/QD-TTg also approved the addition of the list of communes in Region I in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2025.
Specifically, add Binh Minh ward and Xuan Tang ward, Lao Cai city, Lao Cai province to region I; add Ba Che town, Ba Che district, Quang Ninh province to region I.
The Decision clearly states that the Ethnic Committee and the People's Committees of the provinces: Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, An Giang, Binh Phuoc, Thanh Hoa, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh are fully responsible for the information, data, and documents submitted for appraisal and approval of adjustments, supplements, and corrections to the list of communes in regions III, II, and I in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2025 mentioned above.
The application of regimes and policies in the areas of district and commune-level administrative units approved in this Decision shall comply with the provisions of Resolution No. 35/2023/UBTVQH15 dated July 12, 2023 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and relevant legal provisions.
Additional expenses incurred to implement social security policies issued by the Central Government (if any) shall be implemented in accordance with the Prime Minister's decision on the principle of targeted support from the central budget to local budgets to implement social security policies issued by the Central Government in the period 2022 - 2025.
