Investigation of the case of smuggling cigarettes in Vinh Thong ward

On the morning of October 31, An Giang Provincial Police said they were investigating a case of transporting contraband, smuggled cigarettes, that occurred in Vinh Thong ward.

At about 6:00 a.m. on October 29, upon receiving a report from Vinh Thong Ward Police, the Investigation Police Department of An Giang Province Police coordinated with relevant agencies to examine the scene of the case of transporting prohibited goods that occurred at about 5:40 a.m. on October 22 at a house on Kenh Moi Street, Tan Hung Quarter, Vinh Thong Ward (An Giang Province).

Police caught Huynh Duy Sang (22 years old), residing in Ward 4, To Chau Ward (An Giang Province) driving a motorbike carrying 124 Hero brand cigarettes (1,240 packs) and 25 Jet brand cigarettes (250 packs), a total of 1,490 packs of smuggled cigarettes.

Sang confessed that a young man (name and address unknown) delivered the above cigarettes at Ha Giang bridge area, Giang Thanh commune (An Giang province), then drove them to Kenh Moi street, Tan Hung quarter, Vinh Thong ward to deliver to a woman named H (unknown background).

The An Giang Provincial Police Investigation Agency has conducted a crime scene investigation in accordance with regulations. The case continues to be verified, investigated and clarified.
