Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet and the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs worked in Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces.

From April 1-3, a working delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet and Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad appointed in 2024 paid a working visit to Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces.

At the working sessions with leaders of the People's Committees, representatives of departments and enterprises of Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces, the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs heard information about the socio- economic situation and foreign affairs results of the two provinces in recent times.

The leaders of Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces both acknowledged and highly appreciated the attention and support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the province and hoped that in the coming time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would continue to pay attention, support and help the localities in implementing international cooperation activities, attracting resources for investment, development and solving humanitarian and social issues.

Regarding specific proposals, Quang Tri province proposed support to expand the establishment of cooperative relations with localities in the region and the world; organize a conference to introduce Quang Tri 2025; approach and mobilize aid from international organizations and foreign non-governmental organizations in supporting victims of Agent Orange, people with disabilities, education, health, environment and climate change response; promote the image, people, culture, tourism; search for missing Vietnamese soldiers, and overcome the consequences of war bombs and mines.

Quang Binh provincial leaders proposed supporting the connection and introduction of foreign investors in the fields of logistics, industry, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, implementing ODA projects in the area, and cooperating in developing tourism and service projects associated with the cave tourism strengths of the World Natural Heritage Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.

Representatives of the two localities also requested the Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to increase exchanges, guidance and support to be able to effectively connect with partners, promote the potential and advantages of the province, and help access timely information from the responsible area.

Speaking at the meetings, Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet acknowledged and highly appreciated the foreign affairs results that Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces have achieved in recent times.

Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet suggested that in the coming time, the two provinces should further promote the achieved results, effectively exploit the geographical and economic position and available potential, focus on attracting investment and resources into areas of strength. The Deputy Minister also suggested that the two provinces pay attention to consolidating the organizational apparatus, improving the quality and capacity of the staff working in local foreign affairs.

Affirming that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad will always accompany and provide the best support to Quang Tri and Quang Binh, Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet requested ambassadors and consuls general to base on the "orders" of the localities to find suitable investors and international partners, deploy activities to promote OCOP products as well as introduce and promote the localities.
