Create AI apps in minutes

A video series launched in early 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia, showcased how anyone can quickly use generative AI to build useful business applications. In the series, AWS AI expert Dr. Nashlie Sephus met with local entrepreneurs and shared tips on using PartyRock, a free tool based on Amazon Bedrock that helps anyone create AI applications in minutes.

In quick succession, Peace, Love and Happiness Club (a plant shop specializing in high-end tropical plants) and Dog Gone Seattle (a nonprofit that rescues homeless dogs from high-kill shelters) are the latest small businesses in the US to use generative AI to develop solutions to everyday challenges.

Dog Gone Seattle is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding new homes for rescue dogs in Seattle.

How businesses use PartyRock to improve operations is by providing practical guidance to customers, producing concise content, and summarizing scientific studies to communicate more clearly and transparently to customers.

Create personalized product recommendations and detailed customization guides: Neil Silverman and John Tseng own the Peace, Love, and Happiness Club, a beautiful, airy 5,000-foot-square space that's home to over 10,000 different plants.

While they’re always willing to help customers find the right plants for their living space and style, talking through each option in detail with customers can take hours. So the business leveraged PartyRock to create two helpful tools: “Plant Pal,” an app that helps customers find the right plant in seconds, and “Exotic Gardeners Companion,” an app that provides care instructions for each plant customers choose.

With “Plant Pal,” customers only need to provide information about their living environment and experience growing plants, and the app will suggest the best suggestions. After selecting a plant, they can turn to “Exotic Gardeners Companion” to get detailed care instructions by entering the plant name. The app will provide care tips such as ideal light conditions, watering needs, soil requirements, and many other useful information.

In another case, Jenny Nordin, a busy mother of three and founder of Dog Gone Seattle, also needed a more efficient way to communicate important information to her team of fosters and volunteers.

Dog Gone Seattle is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding new homes for rescue dogs in Seattle. The organization is looking for new adopters to ensure a safe, loving, and permanent environment for these dogs. Previously, each adopter would receive step-by-step support and a fostering guide. However, having to custom-cut and paste sections of the 21-page guide into individual emails was time-consuming.

Nordin was taught to use PartyRock to convert the document into short newsletters that quickly answered foster carer questions without having to compose detailed emails. By simply uploading the foster carer guide as a PDF to PartyRock, she had a concise summary with relevant bullet points and illustrations.

According to AWS, anyone can take advantage of this GenAI tool. Business owners or anyone over the age of 18 who want to learn the basic components of AI applications and how to use prompt to create their own AI applications can visit the PartyRock website (free). Businesses need to be ready to apply GenAI as a stepping stone to accelerate

According to Mr. Hoang Hieu, Head of Solution Architect at AWS Vietnam, society is currently in a very vibrant development phase of GenAI. This is the era of AI, which will represent the parts related to speed and development of technological changes, perhaps the biggest change since the first industrial revolution.

GenAI has become popular and many businesses have focused on learning to apply it. However, many people are still "struggling" to find out how to build usable data platforms in GenAI applications.

In response, AWS has created Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service that offers a wide selection of high-performance platform models from leading AI companies such as AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Cohere, Meta, Mistral AI, Stability AI, and Amazon through a single API. This gives customers the flexibility to choose the models that best suit their needs.

Along with built-in security features, Amazon Bedrock also allows customers to fine-tune their models based on their input data to deliver results that best suit their business, their work, and their customers.

GenAI does not stop at being a search engine or a Chatbot tool, but will create new products and new services to help customers improve their experience, work efficiency, and improve their work processes.

According to Mr. Hieu, the potential of GenAI is huge, which is why Goldman Sachs has predicted that global GDP will be able to grow by about 7,000 billion USD and significantly increase global labor productivity in the next 10 years due to the development of GenAI.

For customers, GenAI is expected to create applications and features to help customers enhance their experiences and create new interactions with businesses to bring more efficiency.

For employees, using GenAI can improve work performance and enhance their creativity in the business.

To limit and prevent misinformation, Amazon Bedrock's Guardrails feature allows AWS customers to prevent and control the amount of highly secure, sensitive information. Guardrails should be included to be used most safely with responsible AI applications.

In Vietnam, there are many customers in different industries and fields that take advantage of the power of GenAI to bring value to businesses. Typically, TymeX is a digital bank that uses Amazon Q Developer to automate tasks and improve the capacity of their developers. They also use Amazon Q Business, Amazon Bedrock to build internal AI applications. By doing so, TymeX has increased developer productivity by 40% so that they have more time to focus on other goals such as innovation and developing other skills.

PixelML provides an ecosystem of tools that help customers have a new experience. This is an application that will create a huge change for industries related to marketing and digital marketing.

The third example is AI startup Hay, which has created a culturally aware GenAI platform that allows users in Vietnam to search for information with a mindset of understanding Vietnamese culture.

“With AWS GenAI tools, it is completely normal for businesses to use AI and GenAI for development, and it has become part of everyday life. We need to know how to maximize the power of AI to promote creativity, improve labor productivity, and bring greater value to businesses and life,” Mr. Hieu emphasized.
