Ho Chi Minh City Television Football Team won the 2024 Press Cup in the Southern region

After three days of fierce competition with a high frequency of appearances, the Press Cup 2025 Football Tournament - Southern Region ended after the final match between Ho Chi Minh City Television and the Ho Chi Minh City Law Alliance/Tri Thuc Tre Magazine on the afternoon of May 23. These were two undefeated teams in the group stage and in the final match, the two sides continued to draw 1-1 in the official match time.

Having to decide the winner in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout, with courage and a little luck, the Ho Chi Minh City Television team overcame their opponents with a score of 3-1 to win the Southern qualifying round of the football tournament for journalists for the first time.

Ho Chi Minh City Law Alliance/ZNews (blue shirt) came in second.

In the third-place match, VNEpress won the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper team in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in regular time. According to the regulations, the two teams that finished first and second in the Southern region, Ho Chi Minh City Television and the Ho Chi Minh City Law Alliance/Tri Thuc Tre Magazine, will qualify for the 2025 Press Cup national finals to be held in early June in Bac Ninh city.

The Lao Dong Newspaper team ranked 4th and won the style award.

The National Press Agency Football Tournament - Press Cup 2025 is organized by the Trade Union of the Press Department - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Vietnam Journalists Association in collaboration with Vietnam Family magazine.

The tournament was initiated and held annually since 2016 to celebrate major holidays of the year and promote the movement of physical training and sports in press agencies from central to local levels.

Press Cup 2025 - Southern region has the participation of 8 football teams from press agencies located in Ho Chi Minh City including: Ho Chi Minh City People's Radio (VOH), Lao Dong Newspaper, Thanh Nien Newspaper, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Lien Quan of Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper - Znews, Ho Chi Minh City Television Station, Vietnam Television Center in Ho Chi Minh City (VTV9), VnExpress Electronic Newspaper.
