The particularly important role of studying political theory

On July 25, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, the Central Organizing Committee, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ministry of Public Security jointly organized the national scientific conference "Innovation in political theory learning in the national education system to meet development requirements in the era of national growth".

The workshop was attended by leaders and representatives of central and local departments, ministries, branches, scientists, experts, education managers, and political theory lecturers nationwide. Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi represented the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training to attend and co-chair the workshop.

Speaking at the conference, Prof. Dr. Le Van Loi - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics emphasized: The conference has important significance, contributing to providing scientific and practical arguments on the work of political education in the national education system in the new era.

From there, advise the Politburo and the Secretariat, and at the same time propose orientations and solutions to continue directing and orienting innovation in LLCT education in the national education system until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The opinions presented at the conference all affirmed the particularly important role of political education in the national education system. Throughout the Party's documents, there are requirements to innovate the content and methods, improve the effectiveness of political education in national educational institutions, and create a substantial change in political awareness for students.

In particular, after 10 years of implementing Conclusion No. 94-KL/TW, the work of educating political ideology has achieved many remarkable results. The system of programs and textbooks on political ideology has been issued relatively synchronously, integrating traditional values, Ho Chi Minh's ideology and the Party's guidelines and policies.

The rate of students accessing to political science subjects is increasing, many schools have had innovative teaching initiatives, linking theory with practice, and political dialogue with students. Many creative teaching models such as extracurricular learning, thematic discussions, the use of information technology, and social networks have initially shown effectiveness in inspiring theoretical learning.

Coordination between relevant agencies has also been effective. Provincial and municipal Party Committees have paid attention to leadership, and the school system has played a direct role in implementation, teaching and supervision...

Creating interest in learning political theory for students

At the workshop, Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang - Deputy Director of the Academy of Politics, Ministry of National Defense presented a paper "Politics in the period of renovation - Issues for military schools", summarizing 6 issues raised in political theory education to improve the quality of political theory learning in the current new conditions.

Dr. Nguyen Manh Thang - Head of the Faculty of Political Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education emphasized the role and responsibility of Party committees and authorities in educational institutions in leading and directing the improvement of the quality and effectiveness of political theory education.

Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Cao Anh Dung, Director of the International Academy, Ministry of Public Security, introduced a new method, a new way of teaching political theory to develop 4 basic capacities for learners: Self-control and self-study capacity, problem-solving capacity, communication capacity and cooperation capacity.

Dr. Tran Van Luc, Hue University of Education, said that teaching LLCT is a very important content. However, in the past, in the implementation process, there were many problems, obstacles, and lack of uniformity, especially the awareness of educational institution leaders was not on par with the general development, and did not properly evaluate the role of teachers.

With a frank, objective and scientific spirit, the opinions and discussions pointed out a number of basic shortcomings and limitations that need to be overcome, such as: the content of the curriculum is still heavily academic, lacking practical connections; teaching methods are slow to innovate; the team of political theory lecturers is lacking in quantity and quality; there is a lack of criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of political education in practice; a number of students are not active and interested in learning political theory...

In his closing speech at the workshop, Dr. Ngo Dong Hai - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission - affirmed: Innovation in LLCT education in the national education system is not only an objective requirement but also a long-term strategy to build Vietnamese people to develop in the new era.

The dedicated and profound opinions of experts, scientists, and lecturers of LLCT contributed at the workshop will be recorded, synthesized, and refined to serve the construction of the Summary Report on 10 years of implementing Conclusion 94 of the Secretariat, proposing to competent authorities to issue policies and orientations for innovation in LLCT education in the national education system in the coming period.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi emphasized that innovation in political theory learning is an urgent requirement, requiring determination, intelligence and joint efforts of the entire political system. The speech assessed the current situation, pointed out the issues and proposed a number of solutions to continue innovation and improve the quality of political theory learning in educational institutions.

“We not only equip students with knowledge, but more importantly, we give them a scientific worldview, a dialectical thinking method, a firm belief and a desire to contribute. That is the most valuable baggage for the young generation of Vietnam to confidently enter the era of national development,” said Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi.
