Vietnamese women's volleyball team extends winning streak against the Philippines.
On the afternoon of December 14th, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team faced the Philippines in the semi-finals of the 33rd SEA Games. In 2025, the two teams had already met twice, with both victories going to Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team. In those two wins, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team only lost one set.
In the match against the Philippines, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team fielded the same lineup as in their final group stage encounter with Indonesia. Outside hitter Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was included in the starting lineup. However, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team faced considerable difficulties during the first half of the first set.

Vietnam and the Philippines engaged in a fierce back-and-forth battle for the first 10 points. Then, the Philippines unexpectedly surged ahead to overtake Vietnam. Despite falling behind, Thanh Thúy and her teammates quickly regained their focus and launched an impressive scoring run, winning the first set 25/17.
In the first set, besides Thanh Thúy, Vi Thị Như Quỳnh also performed outstandingly. Như Quỳnh contributed many points, including two direct winning serves.

Vi Thi Nhu Quynh played well in the attacking line.

The second set unfolded similarly to the first. Both teams played a back-and-forth game in the early stages, but Vietnam, with their superior attacking ability, created a significant lead as the set progressed. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team won the second set 25/14, taking a 2-0 lead.
The Philippines' performance became increasingly disjointed. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team had little difficulty winning the third set with a score of 25/17. Ultimately, Thanh Thúy and her teammates defeated the Philippines 3-0, securing the first ticket to the SEA Games 33 women's volleyball final.

In the other semi-final match, the Thai women's volleyball team will face Indonesia. The Thai girls are considered superior, so an upset is unlikely. If they win against Indonesia, the host nation Thailand will compete against Vietnam in the SEA Games 33 women's volleyball final.

Vietnamese fans enthusiastically cheered for Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team.
