Many new houses were built

In late March, we followed the working group of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Khanh Vinh district to inspect the progress of construction and repair of houses for people in Son Thai commune. Nestled in a lush fruit garden, the house of Mrs. A Lia's family (Giang Bien village, Son Thai commune) was about to be built by the construction unit to build trusses and roof it. Mrs. A Lia said: "For more than 5 years, I have had to go to the hospital for dialysis every month, which is quite expensive. Because of difficult circumstances and no money to build a new house, I live in a temporary house, hot and rainy everywhere. Now that the Party, the State and the locality have paid attention and supported 60 million VND for my family to build a new, solid house, I am very happy. In about 10 days, the construction team will hand over the house for me to move in. The house is the family's long-standing wish, giving me more strength to try to treat my illness."

Not far away, the house of Mr. Ha Nghiem's family (Giang Bien village) is being finished by a team of workers. Mr. Nghiem said: "My wife and I do not have stable jobs, we do whatever we are hired to do, so life is quite difficult. Therefore, for many years, my wife, I and our 3 children have had to live in a house with a corrugated iron roof and wooden walls built on the land given by our parents. When the local authorities announced that our family would receive 60 million VND in support to build a new house, I was very happy. Currently, the 40m2 house is gradually taking shape, and in about 15 days the construction unit will hand over the house to the family to move in. With a new house, my wife and I can live in peace and strive to escape poverty. I plan to borrow policy credit to gradually convert 2 hectares of hilly land from growing cashews to growing fruit trees and developing livestock farming."

Going up the slope, we visited the newly completed house of Mr. Ha Nhanh's family (Bo Lang village). The house is more than 50 square meters wide and is being plastered and tiled. Mr. Nhanh said: "The State supported 60 million VND, the family contributed an additional 30 million VND to build a spacious house. To complete the project soon, from the day of construction, I temporarily put aside my job as a hired worker and stayed home to help the construction team mix mortar. In just a few days, the house will be completed and handed over for the family to move in. Having a new house helps me feel secure and work hard to improve my life"...

Guaranteed completion before April 30

Identifying the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses as a major policy of the Party, State and locality; thereby adding motivation for local people, especially poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households to rise up, Khanh Vinh district has mobilized the entire political system to participate and resolutely implement the program. District and commune levels have established inspection teams to closely monitor, urge and urge daily and mobilize households to participate in supervising the quality of works. Along with that, the district has called on and created conditions for local construction teams to undertake the construction of housing projects; taking advantage of available local materials to reduce costs for people so that the works can be better. In particular, to contribute to improving the quality of the projects and ensure that each newly built or repaired household has auxiliary works, the locality has actively mobilized household owners, relatives and neighbors to support additional funding sources.
