On December 10th, the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece held a reception to celebrate its 15th anniversary (December 2010 - December 2025).
Attendees included: Comrade Leftenis Nikolaou, Member of Parliament of the Communist Party of Greece in the European Parliament, Head of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Communist Party of Greece, Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Greece, close Greek friends, representatives of the Overseas Vietnamese Liaison Committee, long-time Vietnamese residents who have stood alongside the Embassy since its early days, and Vietnamese investors, businesspeople, and students in Greece.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong reviewed the achievements of the Embassy over the past 15 years, particularly its contribution to the development of cooperative relations between the two countries in all fields, from politics , economics, and trade to culture and education. Beyond its mission of connecting the two countries and peoples, the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece also serves as a home for the Vietnamese community there.
In particular, in the context of 2025, when the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Embassy has implemented many practical activities to further strengthen cooperative relations between the two countries. Notably, the Embassy organized a meeting on the sidelines of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice (France) between the Prime Ministers of the two countries; successfully hosted the delegation led by the Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly on an official visit to Greece; leaders of the two countries exchanged congratulatory messages on major holidays and anniversaries; maintained close cooperation channels with the Greek Parliament and the Communist Party of Greece; and held meetings with many high-ranking leaders of the Greek government and ministries.
The Embassy has also become a bridge for businesses of the two countries with many activities implemented such as: Organizing the 3rd ASEAN Plus Bazaar Charity Fair; the Vietnamese booth at the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair; and the bilateral business forum on labor.
The Embassy has also successfully organized many cultural activities such as: Vietnamese Film Week in Athens, Thessaloniki, and Edessa; Vietnamese Cultural Days in Greece; the launch of a Greek translation of a book about President Ho Chi Minh; and the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. These events not only showcased the image of the country and its people but also focused on introducing Vietnam's economic potential and strengths, thereby connecting businesses and contributing to promoting economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece launched a second fundraising campaign to support compatriots in Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of recent storms, floods, and landslides. The amount collected at the ceremony was 1,675 EUR and 100 USD. This money will be transferred to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
