In just one day, the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni - the national treasure of India, currently enshrined at Quan Su Pagoda, will be moved to Tam Chuc Pagoda ( Ha Nam ).
Not wanting to miss the rare opportunity of a lifetime to directly worship and pay homage to the Buddha's relics, thousands of people and Buddhists continued to flock to Quan Su Pagoda last night, despite the rain.
People patiently queued up to enter Quan Su Pagoda in the rain.
Everyone lined up properly, moving according to the instructions of the volunteers.
Ms. Do Thi Tiep departed from Vu Thu ( Thai Binh ) at 4:00 p.m., and at 7:30 p.m. she joined the crowd lining up around Thien Quang Lake from Ho Xuan Huong Street. By 11:15 p.m. she had moved to near the gate of Quan Hoa Pagoda on Tran Binh Trong Street.
Ms. Do Thi Tiep lined up from 7:30 pm, and happily waited until she could enter to worship and pay respect to the Buddha's relics.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If you have the heart to come here, just wait happily, there is no problem,” Ms. Tiep shared with a gentle smile.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hanh (90 years old) in Thuan Thanh, Bac Ninh province was carried by a volunteer from Tran Binh Trong street to Quan Su pagoda.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh (90 years old) in Thuan Thanh, Bac Ninh province was carried by young volunteers to worship Buddha's relics.
Ms. Vi Thi Huong, Mr. Hanh's daughter, said: "He is a person who has benefited from the miracles of Buddhism. He used to be from a poor family and was illiterate. Since 2015, his children have taken him to several pagodas such as Huong Pagoda, Cai Vau Pagoda... The monks have guided him to carry the sutra on his head and make wishes every day. Now he can read and write, he can read the Amitabha Sutra, the Universal Gate Sutra, the Great Compassion Mantra... He is old, but today he is very happy to come here. He is very happy to be able to worship and pay homage to the Buddha's relics."
To maintain order during the 4 days that Quan Su Pagoda is open to people and Buddhists from everywhere to come and worship Buddha's relics (May 13-16), there is no small amount of effort and dedication from the volunteer team.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Y, 67 years old, heard the information from the monk at Dai Tu An Pagoda (Dan Phuong, Hanoi), and registered to join the volunteer team here since May 13.
Ms. Y said: “Tonight, the number of people coming here is larger, the queue is much longer than last night. We work in shifts, and thanks to Bodhisattva's blessing for good health, we don't feel tired at all.”
Do Thi Lan Huong and her younger brother volunteer together.
Do Thi Lan Huong, a final year student at the College of Tourism, had the opportunity to pay homage to the Buddha's relics since May 14. Yesterday afternoon, when she saw information about the need for volunteers, she enthusiastically signed up to participate. Huong and her younger brother signed up to work from 10pm last night to 6am this morning.
“We are very happy and full of energy. There are also some ladies and gentlemen who want to cut the line to come in and worship. I suggest that you all happily line up. If everyone asks to cut in line, it will be chaotic. My wish is that everyone who comes here will be satisfied to come in and worship and pay respect to the Buddha's relics because this is a rare blessing in life,” Lan Huong confided.
Buddha's relics are enshrined at Quan Su Pagoda.
