Domestic pepper prices updated on the afternoon of May 22, 2025

Recorded on May 22, the domestic pepper market remained stable compared to the previous slight decrease in some localities, fluctuating at 150,000 - 152,000 VND/kg.

According to experts, in the short term, the domestic pepper market tends to be stable or may increase slightly by 200-500 VND/kg in some key areas such as Dak Nong and Gia Lai, thanks to stable export demand and limited supply. However, at this time, the domestic pepper market still has no clear momentum for price increases due to slow consumption and the wait-and-see mentality of traders.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), domestic pepper prices have not shown any clear signs of increasing due to falling consumption and traders’ anticipation. Meanwhile, a report from Ptexim said that Vietnamese pepper prices fell last week due to low demand in markets such as China and the US. However, positive signals are emerging from the European market, as demand shows signs of improvement.

Farmers in Dak Nong province harvest pepper

Despite the recent increase in pepper prices, farmers are reluctant to expand their cultivation areas. Current prices are not attractive enough to attract investment, forcing many to switch to growing higher-value crops such as durian and avocado. In addition, limited land is also a major factor hindering the expansion of pepper cultivation.

The Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that world pepper prices remain high due to tight supply after harvest and expectations of increased demand from the Middle East and Europe in the second quarter of 2025.
