On March 12, in Buon Don district ( Dak Lak province), the opening ceremony of Buon Don Elephant Festival took place - an activity within the framework of the 8th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival.
This year's Buon Don Elephant Festival no longer has activities such as: elephant running, elephant swimming, elephant soccer... but instead has activities such as: Water Wharf Worship Ceremony, Elephant Health Worship Ceremony, Elephant Makeup Contest, Elephant Buffet Party, Elephant Greeting Contest, Taking Pictures with Elephants...

According to Mr. Pham Van Nghia, Chairman of Buon Don District People's Committee, since ancient times, elephants have become a cultural symbol of Buon Don, representing the beauty of the village, wealth and prosperity. Elephants are closely associated with the formation and development of the nation, deeply permeating social relationships, affecting the culture, beliefs, customs, festivals and many other forms of community activities of the ethnic groups in the Central Highlands.

"Buon Don Elephant Festival is a practical activity to introduce the potential for cultural and eco-tourism development; honor the cultural values of the ethnic groups in the Central Highlands. At the same time, it contributes to attracting investors to promote joint ventures, associations, and investment cooperation to develop the economy , society in general and tourism in the district in particular," Mr. Nghia emphasized.
The activities in Buon Don Elephant Festival this year made tourists extremely excited when they were able to feed the elephants with fruits and take pictures with the giant elephants.
