Con Dao tourism aims for 'Net Zero', attracting high-spending guests

TPO - The Department of Tourism of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has just organized a tour and survey of tourist attractions in Con Dao island district to orient tourism development in the coming time in the land once known as "Hell on Earth".

According to Mr. Trinh Hang, Director of the Department of Tourism of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, in recent times, tourism in Con Dao has had strong growth. However, in order to move towards sustainable tourism activities and eco-tourism, the tourism industry needs to soon have oriented solutions to maintain the growth target in parallel with preserving the green environment and stable economic development.

Specifically, in the coming time, Con Dao tourism will focus on the market segment of tourists coming to Con Dao with high spending levels, cultural - historical - spiritual tourism and eco-tourism segments.... Con Dao will aim to strongly develop Net Zero tourism at tourist destinations.

In 2024, despite many difficulties due to the temporary suspension of some flights to Con Dao due to objective reasons, Con Dao tourism still had strong development steps. In the first and second quarters of 2024, Con Dao tourism welcomed over 396,000 visitors (an increase of 102.74% over the same period) and achieved total revenue for the industry of over 1,500 billion VND (an increase of 104.72%).
