Korean specialty golden melon is available in Vietnam for the first time

This event is a celebration of the 17-year long quarantine negotiation efforts and finally the Korean yellow melon has set its first step into Vietnam. Previously, this melon line was only exported to Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore... until now, it has the opportunity to be known in the Vietnamese market.

The origin of the yellow melon is said to be the same as the ancestor of the cantaloupe called Cucumis Melon. It is the only fruit grown in Korea, registered under the name "Korea Melon" in the international food classification CODEX. Now, this product has the opportunity to be recognized for its value in the international market, including Vietnam.

The specialty yellow melon has a sweet taste, lots of water, low calories, crispy flesh and can be eaten whole.

The Korean golden melon and the Vietnamese grapefruit are considered symbols of friendship between the two countries.

Korean strawberries and cantaloupes are now available in Vietnam.

Last year, Vietnam and South Korea reached an agreement on granting quarantine permits for Korean melons and Vietnamese grapefruits. This year, the two countries continue to cooperate with the aim of reaching a quarantine agreement between Korean kiwifruit and mandarin oranges and Vietnamese lychees and passion fruit.

The event launching the first Korean melon in Vietnam was also attended by representatives of major distribution systems such as Lotte Mart, WinMart, Aeon Mall... and Vietnamese fruit import-export enterprises.
