Quang Ngai: Lo Xo Pass continues to collapse, causing serious traffic congestion

The new landslides are located about 10km from the old landslides – where dozens of drivers have been isolated for many days in the area bordering Da Nang City and Quang Ngai – in the direction from Quang Ngai to Da Nang. Large amounts of landslides have spilled onto the road, making it impossible for vehicles to pass.

Clip of Ms. Bui Nhat Le (from Hung Yen ), who is isolated on Lo Xo Pass, recorded this morning her car moving to another location to wait for the route to be cleared.

As of 10:15 a.m. the same day, authorities had mobilized mechanical vehicles to the scene to level the area, but the work encountered many difficulties due to the large volume of landslides and adverse weather.

The appearance of new landslides has made it difficult to supply about 35 vehicles with 50 people trapped at the old landslide site. Food, water and necessities cannot be brought into the isolated area.

Local authorities have requested the road management unit to mobilize more vehicles and temporarily clear the route soon to continue supplying drivers stuck for the past 3 days.
