(QNO) - Not only do they take on the role of leaders in the Youth Union and youth movements in their localities, many young people are also pioneers in economic development and entrepreneurship. They are shining examples of enthusiasm, daring to think and dare to do for young union members to follow.

“If our economy is strong, we will have more conditions to contribute to the work of the Youth Union…” - that is the reason why Vo Cong Khai (born in 1992, Phu My village, Tam Phuoc commune, Phu Ninh) is determined to start a business in his hometown. After completing his military service in 2014, he had to do many jobs to earn a living but they were not stable, so his participation in the local Youth Union movement was not regular.

Animal husbandry is a new field that Khai has never studied or tried before. Spending time researching online and learning from successful models, he designed and built a pig farming model using a completely closed, cold method.
“I started my business in 2021 - after the African swine fever epidemic, the price of piglets was very high. The first batch sold at a loss due to the low price of pigs. Luckily, my farming process is closed, with little risk from the epidemic, so it gradually stabilized. Currently, my farm has 10 sows and 100 pigs,” said Mr. Khai.

Along with being good at business, Mr. Khai is also an active Secretary of the Youth Union, especially in charity activities. At the end of 2022, Mr. Khai mobilized young people with economic conditions of the Youth Union to contribute, creating a fund to support disadvantaged households in the area.
Khai plans that when the livestock situation is stable, he will build a model outside the farm so that local youth can visit and learn. He will actively share his experience and provide technical support to any like-minded youth.

Mr. DOAN THANH LAM - Secretary of the Youth Union of Tam Phuoc commune, Phu Ninh:
" Mr. Vo Cong Khai is an energetic and enthusiastic Secretary of the village Youth Union. Recently, he has actively gathered young people to participate in the Youth Union movement and called for donations from young people to support those in difficult circumstances. At the same time, he is an example of daring to think, daring to do, spreading the entrepreneurial spirit very well to local youth."

Young man Huynh Nhat Vinh (born in 1997, Tam Hiep commune, Nui Thanh district) graduated from construction and graduated in 2020 - right when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out strongly. Unstable job, Vinh left home to go to Tam Tra mountain to build a forest garden economic model. His luggage is youth and the spirit of daring to think and dare to do, 1 hectare of barren forest land in Vinh's hands has become a garden - pond - barn model that brings high economic efficiency.
“Previously, people only grew acacia on this land, with low efficiency and the land gradually degenerating. I carefully studied the climate and soil and decided to grow suitable fruits such as bananas, Thai jackfruit, plums, guava, green-skinned grapefruit, oranges, mangoes, avocados, star apples... At first, the trees grew slowly, so we had to invest in an irrigation system. Then there were a few types of trees that gave quite good harvests,” Vinh shared.

Not only planting trees, Vinh also raises 2 ponds of tilapia and perch, and builds a closed industrial pig farm with a scale of more than 150 pigs. Currently, Vinh's annual revenue is about 500 million VND.
Devoting all his mind and energy to stabilizing the economic model, Vinh began to spend time accompanying the youth movement in Tam Tra, especially starting a business. With a spirit of enthusiasm and responsibility, Vinh was trusted by the local youth union members and elected as Deputy Secretary of the Commune Youth Union. Vinh said he had participated in Youth Union activities since he was a student, and had been attached to the Nam Son Village Youth Union (Tam Hiep Commune) for many years. No matter where he was or what position he held, Vinh always wanted to contribute his youth to building a strong and prosperous homeland.

What Vinh worries about is that it is not easy to mobilize young people in Tam Tra. Because most of the people are Co ethnic people, many young people work far away, students of Union age all attend schools in Nui Thanh town, the rest are involved in farming every day... it is very difficult to mobilize and gather them.

Growing up from the Youth Union movement, Mr. Huynh The Toan - Secretary of Dai Loc District Youth Union understands and grasps the needs of local youth. Mr. Toan said, to attract young people to the Youth Union, leaders must be pioneers, exemplary and dedicated. In any movement, the Youth Union leader must go first and roll up his sleeves to work with the youth. How to make the youth see the value and effectiveness of their contributions to easily mobilize and gather them.

With this in mind, Toan and the members of Dai Loc District Youth Union innovated the way the Youth Union operates and built many practical youth models and movements. Among them, the most prominent is the economic model of Dai Loc Bamboo Rat Breeding Cooperative for Youth.

Mr. Toan said that in 2018, when he was still a District Youth Union officer, he invested in raising bamboo rats to earn more income. At first, he encountered many difficulties because he did not have a firm grasp of care and breeding techniques, but he was not discouraged and always researched and accumulated experience. A year later, the model developed and provided a stable income. In 2019, he joined forces with 5 other bamboo rat-raising households in the area to form the Dai Loc Bamboo Rat Breeding Cooperative. His farm alone has more than 150 bamboo rats for breeding and meat.

Toan has now connected with young people who are passionate about business and share their experiences in raising bamboo rats. Thanks to that, the cooperative now has 14 members, including 8 young people, and Toan is the leader of the cooperative.

Mr. Huynh Le Viet (born in 1993, Tich Phu village, Dai Hiep commune) previously graduated with a degree in information technology. After working in many different jobs but not being stable, he decided to return to his hometown to start a business. Mr. Viet was supported and guided enthusiastically by the District Youth Union Secretary Huynh The Toan and joined the Cooperative Group. To date, Mr. Viet has the largest bamboo rat farm in the group with a scale of 300 bamboo rats, earning more than 120 million VND per year.

Also an entrepreneur, Mr. Huynh The Toan easily connects, shares, and has appropriate support solutions for union members and young people with the same aspirations. Mr. Toan hopes that from the success of the Dai Loc Rat Breeding Cooperative model, in the future there will be more economic models of association and cooperation... so that the startup movement can gradually spread among young people.
[Video] - Mr. Huynh The Toan shares about the fact that youth leaders must know how to do business:
* * *
Being good at business without straying from the task of being a local Youth Union leader, many young people have become the nucleus of the local Youth Union movement, spreading their experience, knowledge to the community, and even providing support and capital for rural youth to develop the economy, aiming to get rich... Quang Nam countryside will shine in the future if there are such nucleuses.
