And right at that gathering place of "digital citizens", the Money Day - FOMO or JOMO event organized by The Moneyverse in collaboration with the Department of Politics and Student Affairs, Faculty of Finance and Accounting 1, the Youth Union of Faculty of Finance and Accounting 1, AFC Finance and Accounting Club - Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology has brought a new perspective on the financial world in the digital age - where every "click" can lead to an opportunity, or a mistake.

FOMO and JOMO – Two Sides of the Digital Age Financial Coin

The program opened with a dance performance to the vibrant music of Money Universe. "What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? Is it related to the word 'digitalization'?" — MC Ngoc Minh's witty opening question made the audience burst into laughter and raise their hands in response.

Because, many students admit: they open their eyes and… check notifications. A small action, but clearly reflects the state of FOMO – Fear of Missing Out – a common phenomenon in digital life.

However, in the financial world, a FOMO is sometimes the beginning of irrational investment decisions – those “just this one” moves can cost your wallet. On the contrary, JOMO – Joy of Missing Out – teaches young people to stop, be selective and patiently wait for the right opportunity.

From the initial laughter, the event gradually became more profound. Three speakers: Journalist Duong Ngoc Trinh (with more than 18 years of experience working at Vietnam Television in the field of economic and financial news), Mr. Mai Nhu Ngoc (Deputy Director of Television Service Center - Viettel Telecom, with 17 years of experience working in the field of journalism and communication) and Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram (18 years of experience working in the banking sector with rich experience in strategic planning, consulting, implementing financial solutions) analyzed the boundaries, causes, consequences and ways to transform between FOMO and JOMO. Many perspectives were shared: that FOMO, if transformed, can become a driving force for young people to act and develop; and JOMO, when understood correctly, is not just "missing out" but actively selecting what is worth pursuing.

The discussion thus not only helped students better understand two common psychological states in the digital age, but also helped them realize the importance of maintaining a balance between emotion and reason – the core element in all financial and investment decisions.

The fire of entrepreneurship and the journey of rising from failure

A special highlight of Money Day at PTIT was the interaction between 3 astronauts – representatives of the Academy who participated in The Moneyverse. Their stories, from failures, stumbles to the moments of "touching the dream", spread positive energy and deeply inspired nearly 1,000 students present in the hall.

In particular, the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications is also the origin of the "Cogen" project - a sex education platform applying AI and Gamification, which was excellently ranked in the Top 2 of the Super New Startup Category in Episode 10 - All Stars of the program. Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development BIDV - a companion of The Moneyverse - awarded a scholarship worth 200 million VND to Hanoi Law University, as a recognition for the spirit of "willing to learn - daring to do - knowing how to manage oneself and money" of the young generation of lawyers.

When young people learn to "miss out" to grow up

In a world where "everything happens too fast", The Moneyverse's message to PTIT students is worth pondering: "Life is not a race; running fast is not the best. Sometimes, slow but steady is the solution for sustainable development."

The event ended with long applause – not only because of the new knowledge, but also because of the professionalism and thoughtfulness of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting; – those who contributed to creating a Money Day full of technology, PTIT spirit, and also the mark of The Moneyverse – where young people are freed up to think financially to grow more mature every day.
