Nearly 2,000 athletes participate in the 1st Phuc Loi Ward Sports Festival in 2025

HNP - On the morning of November 2, the Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phuc Loi Ward (Hanoi) held the Opening Ceremony of the 1st Sports Congress in 2025 to demonstrate the strength of the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", while at the same time arousing the spirit of sports and solidarity in the ward community, towards the 11th Capital Sports Congress.

Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Nguyen The Thach - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Ward People's Council; Nguyen Thi Thanh Hang - Deputy Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Ward People's Committee; and comrades in the Party Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the People's Council, leaders of the People's Committee, heads of socio- political organizations, officials of agencies, units, schools, enterprises and residential groups in the area.

In particular, the Opening Ceremony also had the participation of nearly 2,000 athletes, referees and people, representing all walks of life, mass organizations, agencies, units and schools in the whole ward, vividly demonstrating the spirit of sportsmanship and great national unity.

The ceremony opened with a large-scale parade, demonstrating the strength and solidarity of the Party Committee, government and people of Phuc Loi ward. Leading the parade was the National Flag group, followed by the Olympic flag, the palanquin with President Ho Chi Minh's portrait, the red flag and the representative groups: Police, Militia, Veterans, Women's Union, Youth Union, civil servants, education sector, students, businesses, residential groups, the elderly, referees and athletes.

With the bustling marching music, each group of delegates entered the stage amidst the cheers of thousands of people. The image of the fluttering national flag, the bright Congress torch and the parade of people in the colors of flags and flowers created a solemn, proud but also exciting atmosphere.

Comrade Nguyen The Thach - Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Phuc Loi ward received the torch and lit the Congress's cauldron.

The ceremony of carrying and lighting the Congress torch was solemnly held. The sacred torch was carried from Dinh Hoi Xa - a national historical relic, a symbol of the thousand-year-old spirituality of Phuc Loi land - by athlete Le Ha Anh, who won many national gold medals in badminton, leading the torch-carrying group of 10 outstanding athletes. Comrade Nguyen The Thach - Party Secretary, Chairman of the Ward People's Council lit the torch, lighting the Congress torch, demonstrating the will, belief and aspiration to rise of the people of Phuc Loi.

Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh Hang - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Loi Ward emphasized: During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always considered physical education and sports as an essential activity to improve people's health, build comprehensively developed people, and meet the requirements of the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Imbued with his ideology, the Party and State have issued many important guidelines and policies on physical education and sports development, typically Resolution 08 of the Central Committee and Resolutions 71 and 72 on education development and people's health care.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh Hang affirmed that, together with the capital Hanoi, Phuc Loi ward always identifies the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" as a key task, contributing to improving the quality of life, building a healthy, dynamic and united community. After only 4 months of officially operating under the 2-level local government model, the ward has urgently established an Organizing Committee, carefully preparing for the Congress - a large-scale event, mobilizing more than 2,000 athletes to compete in 8 sports: badminton, shuttlecock, chess, volleyball, pickleball, health care for the elderly, tug of war and football.

"The first Phuc Loi Ward Sports Congress in 2025 is the first Congress, opening a new era of Phuc Loi sports, harmoniously combining tradition and modernity; demonstrating the determination to implement the breakthrough of the Resolution of the Ward Party Congress for the term 2025-2030: Improving the quality of people's lives, arousing the aspiration to build Phuc Loi to develop civilized, modern, and happy", Comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh Hang emphasized.

Referee Nguyen Ba Giap, on behalf of the referee team, took the oath before the Congress.

Immediately after the opening speech, athlete Tran Nguyen Phu Lam, representing the athletes attending the Congress, read out a promise to compete honestly, in solidarity, and nobly, determined to achieve the highest results, contributing to the overall success of the Congress; referee Nguyen Ba Giap, on behalf of the referee team, swore to work objectively, fairly, in accordance with the regulations and laws, ensuring the spirit of "fairness and accuracy, for the development of the Phuc Loi ward sports movement".

The festival opened with the art program "Lighting up faith and aspirations for the future", with the participation of nearly 800 extras from schools, clubs and residential groups, creating a unique cultural picture, honoring the spirit of sports and local cultural traditions.

Immediately after that was the tug of war competition - the opening event for the series of competition activities of the Congress. After the intense and dramatic matches, the Organizing Committee awarded the First, Second and Third prizes to the teams with high achievements, and took souvenir photos with the City leaders, ward leaders and athletes.

The first Phuc Loi Ward Sports Congress in 2025 is not only a healthy playground for people to practice their health, but also an opportunity to demonstrate strength, encourage the spirit of competition and solidarity in the whole ward, towards the goal of building Phuc Loi to develop in a civilized, modern and happy manner. After the opening ceremony, the Congress Torch continued to burn brightly, symbolizing the belief, strength and aspiration of the cadres, party members and people of Phuc Loi - those who are together writing a new page of the mass Sports movement in the capital Hanoi in the period of integration and development.
