Nearly 3,000 people participated in the 1st Tung Thien Ward Sports Festival

HNP - On November 2, the Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tung Thien ward held the opening ceremony of the 1st Sports Congress - 2025. There were 20 delegations with nearly 3,000 people including coaches, athletes, armed forces, teachers, students and people in the ward participating in the Congress.

Athlete Luong Tien Quan and other outstanding athletes of Tung Thien ward carried the torch from Thanh Vi communal house (a national historical and cultural relic, worshiping the Three Saints Tan) to the stage, handed it over to the Party Secretary and Chairwoman of the People's Council of Tung Thien ward Do Thi Lan Huong to light the Congress torch.

Tung Thien ward leaders presented souvenir flags to units participating in the Congress.

Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tung Thien Ward Nguyen Hai Anh emphasized: Health is the most precious asset of every human being, a priceless asset of every nation and people.

Promoting the movement "All people practice physical training following the example of great Uncle Ho", Tung Thien ward always focuses on effectively implementing policies and guidelines, developing cultural, physical training and sports careers, aiming to improve health, train will, educate morality, personality, lifestyle, improve cultural and spiritual life for all classes of people, organize well competitions within the framework of the Sports Congress, attracting a large number of athletes and people to participate.

Thanks to that, the mass sports movement in the area has been maintained and developed with many diverse and rich forms, attracting people to participate in training and competition. Thereby, the ward discovered and trained many outstanding athletes with excellent achievements, contributing to the overall achievements of the city and the country.

Notable athletes include: Luong Tien Quan, National Youth Gold Medalist, National Pencaksilat Cup Gold Medalist, Pencaksilat Southeast Asian Congress Bronze Medalist; Phung Xuan An, Pham Viet Thanh, Nguyen Xuan Phuong of Trung Son Tram Primary School have achieved many national, regional and international chess achievements. In particular, athlete Nguyen Xuan Phuong has won many national gold medals, 7 Southeast Asian gold medals, a world bronze medal and is an international chess grandmaster.

Referee Pham Tien Dung, representing the referee team in charge of the competitions, and athlete Phung Van Gioi, representing the athletes participating in the Games, read the oath.

Comrade Nguyen Hai Anh affirmed: The Sports Festival is a practical activity, aiming to further promote the mass sports movement. Through the Festival, the ward continues to select outstanding athletes to supplement the ward team to prepare to compete in the 11th City Sports Festival and national and regional competitions.
