On September 28, the Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security organized an in-depth training conference on the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam and providing online public services in the field of immigration management online from the Ministry of Public Security's Conference Hall to local police.
Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security attended and directed the Conference; Major General Pham Dang Khoa, Director of the Immigration Department, chaired the Conference.
According to Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang, after nearly 45 days of implementing the Law, there have been increasingly clear positive impacts. The number of foreign applications for electronic visas (e-visas) increased by 32%, of which the number of citizens of countries newly applying for e-visas accounted for about 23% and increased day by day. To date, nearly 2.2 million foreigners have entered Vietnam, an increase of 1.3 times compared to the same period in 2022.
The removal of the requirement that a passport must be valid for at least 6 months before being allowed to leave the country has created favorable conditions for citizens to leave the country, with nearly 1,200 cases of exit. The implementation of procedures for immigration management in the electronic environment ensures efficiency, savings and speed, with more than 15,000 citizens and foreigners registering to use the Autogate service.
Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that the reporters and delegates attending the Conference need to promote their intelligence and sense of responsibility, work urgently and seriously to complete the 5 topics according to the proposed program. In particular, it is necessary to focus on thoroughly understanding the new points of Law No. 23 and the contents to note when implementing; provide specific instructions on the procedures and responsibilities of the Public Security at all levels in the management of foreign residence, issues to note in the assignment of receiving and handling the issuance of valuable documents for exit, entry and residence of foreigners in Vietnam...
Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang requested that, after the Conference, the Immigration Department shall preside over and coordinate with relevant units to continue to propagate, disseminate and thoroughly understand the basic contents of the Law and the implementation of online public services in the field of immigration; review, compile statistics and make a list of documents that need to be amended and supplemented to advise on new issuance or abolition.
Focus on completing the transmission system, the immigration management information system from the Ministry to localities, from air border gates, to meet the requirements for handling administrative procedures, implementing new regulations of the Law. Promote the role of the leading unit in immigration management, management of foreigners...
At the Conference, delegates listened to Colonel Dang Tuan Viet, Deputy Director of the Immigration Department, explain the basic contents of Law No. 23 and documents stipulating enforcement measures; the reporters of the Immigration Department presented the contents of the following topics: Receiving and processing applications for ordinary passports in the country and some notes that need to be thoroughly implemented;
