Construction units work through the holidays to speed up project completion on schedule.

The Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway, part of the North - South Eastern Expressway Construction Project, phase 2021 - 2025, has a total length of 65.5 km, of which the section passing through Quang Tri province is 32.53 km long.

According to the report of the Department of Construction of Quang Tri, the entire 32.53 km long main route has been handed over 100% by the localities. Particularly, the 3 locations of the expressway overpass with the length of the access road across these bridges being 2.23 km have completed the entire site clearance and handed over the clean site to the investor.

However, for some residential access roads arising due to being outside the scope, not directly affecting the progress of the main expressway route, it is expected that the locality will complete additional site clearance in May 2025.

Regarding the relocation of technical infrastructure in the area of overpasses and intersections, the province is urging units to urgently arrange human resources and equipment to relocate items in parallel with the construction unit of the expressway project to ensure progress.

According to the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, based on the land actively coordinated by the locality to hand over, up to now, the construction volume of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway project has reached about 84%. Of which, the XL2 package through Quang Tri province has reached about 79% of the contract value.

For the final section of the XL2 package, because the site of the 3 overpasses and intersections has just been handed over, the unit is urging contractors to speed up the construction progress to ensure on-time completion. The volume of asphalt concrete on the main route alone has reached over 97.6%, completing 26/29 bridges.

The Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board said that in order to complete the main route in June 2025, the board has worked with and requested contractors to speed up the project's construction.

Although the April 30 - May 1 holiday lasted 5 days, all human resources and machinery were still 100% on duty at the construction site, working continuously according to the "3 shifts, 4 shifts" plan and the spirit of "working through the holidays, without rest".

Specifically, the unit deployed 80 construction teams with hundreds of locomotives, equipment and nearly 1,400 workers, engineers and staff closely following the two XL1 and XL2 packages for construction.

In addition, coordinate with local authorities to gradually resolve arising problems. In particular, focus on resolving 2.78 km of land belonging to residential service roads and arising U-turn locations that have not been agreed upon by the people; handle problems with 5 locations where technical infrastructure has not been relocated on the service roads on both sides of the overpasses.

It is known that phase 1 of the project has a scale of 4 lanes, the completed phase has 6 lanes. The total investment of the project is 9,919.78 billion VND. The project started on January 1, 2023, the project is expected to be basically completed in October 2025 and put into operation from 2026. This is one of the key national projects that the Government is strongly directing to complete in 2025.
