Gemini has an addictive new feature for teachers and students

The Canvas tool in Gemini allows users to upload files like research papers or reports, and then the task of converting them into a complete set of slides is done completely automatically.

This feature is perfect for anyone who is stuck with a blank Google Slides page and doesn’t know where to start. Office workers, lecturers, teachers, and students are all frequent users of presentation slides.

"This toolkit is so good that users will keep using it again and again, which is another way of saying it can be addictive," Linus Tech Tips shared on CNET.

According to information from Google, this feature is capable of building structured and thematic slides from documents or short text passages provided by users.

From a document file or brief description, Gemini Canvas instantly generates a coherent presentation.

Each presentation comes pre-equipped with sections, images, and formatting, creating a first draft that users can export directly to Google Slides for further editing.

The new feature is now rolling out to both personal and Workspace accounts. A user on Reddit spotted the feature and shared screenshots showing that it is being tested for Pro users first and promises to be available to free users soon.

The update is the next step for Canvas, which launched a Gemini-powered workspace focused on creating and refining text projects earlier this year. Users can now easily convert files into ready-made presentations.

The new feature is especially useful for students, teachers, and professionals who regularly have to give presentations. Instead of spending hours designing slides, users can let Gemini create a first draft and edit it as they like.
