Dutch Economy Minister Vincent Karremans expressed hope that Nexperia chips would be exported again soon, especially after the trade deal between the US and China reached last week. Since the auto industry uses a lot of natural rubber in tire production, any fluctuations in this sector can directly affect the demand for this commodity.

In the currency market, the US dollar rose to 153.27 yen per dollar after data showed that Japanese household spending in September was lower than expected. The weak yen makes yen-denominated assets more attractive to foreign investors. Meanwhile, oil prices continued to be under pressure due to concerns about oversupply, pushing the price of natural rubber on the Singapore Exchange (SICOM) for December 2025 delivery down 0.4% to 168.9 US cents/kg.

In India, the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has launched an anti-dumping investigation into halobutyl rubber imports from China, Singapore and the US following a petition by Reliance Sibur Elastomers, the sole domestic producer. The DGTR said that the failure to take safeguard measures in the past has hampered the domestic industry, and the new investigation is expected to protect the market from a flood of cheap imports.
