Kim Thanh Tet jicama price increases

Farmers in Kim Tan commune (Kim Thanh) are excited because Tet jicama has a good price.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kim Thanh district, farmers in communes of area C in the district are currently harvesting the main crop of jicama to serve the 2025 Tet market.

The selling price of jicama in the field is from 7,000 - 9,000 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 - 3,000 VND/kg compared to the beginning of the season. The average yield is from 2 - 2.5 tons/sao. With the current price, farmers earn from 14 - 20 million VND/sao, an increase of 4 - 6 million VND/sao compared to the beginning of the season; after deducting expenses, people earn a profit of 7 - 13 million VND/sao, 1 - 2 million VND/sao higher than the 2024 Tet crop.

The price of jicama during Tet is high because the quality of jicama during the main season is better than that of early jicama, with beautiful appearance, along with high market demand at the end of the year.

This year, Kim Thanh district has more than 200 hectares of jicama for sale during Tet, equivalent to the 2024 Tet crop. In the winter crop of 2024 - 2025, the entire Kim Thanh district has more than 400 hectares of jicama. Jicama is grown in the communes of Kim Tan, Kim Dinh, Dong Cam, Dai Duc, and Hoa Binh .
