On the morning of October 31, the live hog market across the country witnessed differentiation. The Northern region recorded a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg in many localities. Meanwhile, the live hog price in the Central Highlands and the South remained stable compared to the previous trading session, creating a relatively calm market picture, with prices ranging from 50,000 to 54,000 VND/kg.

Northern pig prices slightly decreased in many provinces

The live hog market in the Northern region has seen a slight adjustment this morning, reflecting fluctuations in local supply and demand in some provinces and cities. The general decrease is 1,000 VND/kg, recorded in many places.

Specifically, pig prices in Tuyen Quang, Lang Son, Lao Cai and Dien Bien have cooled down, currently being purchased at 52,000 VND/kg. Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh and Hung Yen provinces also applied similar adjustments, bringing the transaction price to 53,000 VND/kg.

However, Bac Ninh and Hanoi still maintain the highest price in the region at 54,000 VND/kg. The lowest price of 52,000 VND/kg was recorded in Lai Chau and Son La. Some localities such as Cao Bang, Quang Ninh and Phu Tho remained stable at 53,000 VND/kg.

In summary, the price of live pigs in the North today (October 31) fluctuates between 52,000 - 54,000 VND/kg.

In contrast to the North, the pig market in the Central and Central Highlands regions today did not record any changes in price. This shows the relative stability of supply and demand in the region.

The leading localities in terms of price are Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, which continue to maintain the highest level in the region at 53,000 VND/kg. Next is Ha Tinh, maintaining the price of pork at 52,000 VND/kg.

Notably, a large group of provinces and cities such as Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak still maintained stability at 50,000 VND/kg. Only Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong remained at 51,000 VND/kg.

In general, the price of live pigs in the Central Highlands on October 31 fluctuated between 50,000 - 53,000 VND/kg.

The live hog market in the Southern region this morning continued its sideways trend, consolidating the stability of the market in recent sessions.

Pig prices in Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and An Giang continue to be purchased at 52,000 VND/kg. Dong Thap, Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh Long and Can Tho provinces maintain the price at 51,000 VND/kg. Ca Mau is still the locality with the highest purchase price in the region, reaching 53,000 VND/kg.

In summary, the price of live pigs in the South on October 31 remained stable around 50,000 - 53,000 VND/kg, unchanged from the previous trading session.

The South recorded no new fluctuations.

People are outraged because pig farms pollute the environment.

According to information from the Agriculture and Environment newspaper, residents of Lam Chinh village, Thanh Quan commune, Thanh Hoa province organized a protest by setting up a tent to protest against a polluting pig farm.

Specifically, the people installed a 20m2 iron frame tent right on the road leading to the high-tech pig farm of ASEAN International Investment Joint Stock Company, located in Hon Tinh village, adjacent to Lam Chinh village. They took this action to put pressure on the local government to solve the problem of foul odor pollution from the farm, affecting their lives.

On the morning of October 30, representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Thanh Hoa province, together with leaders of Thanh Quan Commune People's Committee and some residents of Lam Chinh village, inspected the environmental protection situation at the farm of ASEAN International Investment Joint Stock Company.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh (37 years old), a representative of Lam Chinh village, joined the inspection team and said that during their visit to the farm, they discovered many holes burying dead pigs, emitting an unpleasant stench.

Mr. Le Tien Dat, Chairman of Thanh Quan Commune People's Committee, confirmed that the people's protest against the polluting pig farm started on October 29. He also added that there are currently 7 large-scale pig farms in the commune, and the environmental pollution is ongoing, making people increasingly dissatisfied.

ASEAN International Investment Joint Stock Company's high-quality pig farm covers an area of ​​up to 190,000 m2, with a capacity of raising 30,000 pigs per year, including 10,000 weaned pigs and 20,000 meat pigs.
