The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Phu Tho province said that the total number of livestock in the province in the first 10 months of the year remained stable, with a clear improvement in scale and quality.
Specifically, the total buffalo herd reached about 163,500 heads, down 10.8% (equivalent to 19,700 heads), reaching 95.5% of the plan; the cow herd reached 251,000 heads, down 7.6% (20,700 heads), reaching 92.5% of the plan. The increase in pig and poultry herds has helped the province's total fresh meat output reach 362 thousand tons, up 4.2% (14.7 thousand tons) over the same period last year, reaching 77% of the yearly plan. In addition, egg output is estimated at 1,598 million eggs, up slightly by 0.02%, reaching 110.4% of the plan; fresh milk output reached 46.86 million liters, up 1%, reaching 74.4% of the plan.

Currently, the concentrated pig herd accounts for more than 44% of the total herd, the chicken herd accounts for 33% and the cow herd accounts for 14%. Many industrial livestock farming areas have been established in the province, applying advanced technology, ensuring requirements on biosafety, disease prevention and environmental protection.
Phu Tho has also attracted many large enterprises to invest in the livestock sector, such as CP Vietnam, CJ Vina Agri, Japfa Comfeed, Mavin, Cargill, Emivest, DABACO, Hoa Phat... The total pig herd from these enterprises accounts for more than 30%, while the chicken herd accounts for more than 20% of the province's total herd, contributing to improving efficiency and production value in the livestock industry.
