Northern pig price
In the Northern region, the price of live pigs today generally remained stable in many localities, but some places have slightly decreased. Specifically, Thai Nguyen has reduced 1,000 VND/kg, bringing the current purchase price down to 67,000 VND/kg.
In particular, provinces such as Hanoi , Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Nam Dinh and Ha Tinh continue to maintain prices in the range of 66,000 - 68,000 VND/kg. Currently, the North is still the region with the lowest price of live pigs nationwide.
Pig price in Central Highlands
In the Central and Central Highlands regions, the price of live pigs today did not have many notable fluctuations. Provinces such as Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Dak Lak, Binh Phuoc ... continued to maintain the same price compared to yesterday, commonly in the range of 69,000 - 75,000 VND/kg.
Lam Dong alone still maintains the highest price in the region, at 75,000 VND/kg.
Southern pig price
In the Southern market, some localities recorded a decrease in live hog prices today. Specifically, Dong Nai, Ben Tre and Tay Ninh all decreased by 1,000 VND/kg, bringing the purchase price to 75,000 VND/kg and 74,000 VND/kg.
Besides, provinces such as Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, Vinh Long, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang and Ba Ria - Vung Tau still maintain stable prices, fluctuating from 74,000 - 76,000 VND/kg.
The trend of the live hog market today shows a slight decrease in the South, while the North continues to maintain a low price level, with many places trading around 66,000 - 68,000 VND/kg.
Currently, domestic pork consumption demand has not changed significantly before the April 30 - May 1 holiday, making it difficult for the price of live pigs to recover. According to forecasts, in the next few days, the live pig market may continue to fluctuate at the current level, before determining a clearer trend after the holiday.
As of early March 2025, the total pig herd in Binh Duong province reached 832,646 heads, down slightly by 0.11% over the same period last year. This stability reflects the effectiveness of applying high technology in the livestock industry, contributing to disease control and improving production efficiency.
Currently, Binh Duong province has 265 pig farms, an increase of 6 farms compared to the same period in 2023. This increase shows the trend of shifting from small-scale farming models to large-scale and modern farming models.
In the first quarter of 2025, the province's livestock facilities supplied 693,199 pigs to the market, equivalent to an output of 51,989.9 tons of meat. This stable supply has well met the consumption demand in the province as well as neighboring areas.
Maintaining a stable herd and promoting the application of high technology in livestock farming has helped Binh Duong continue to maintain its position as one of the leading localities in the country in developing a sustainable and effective pig farming industry.
