Other provinces and cities still keep stable prices.
According to experts, the current price of live pigs is affected by domestic consumption demand and stable supply from large farms. It is expected that the price of live pigs will stabilize or increase slightly in the short term when consumer demand increases at the end of the year. However, farmers should closely monitor market developments to adjust their production plans appropriately to ensure economic efficiency.
According to the Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper, a report from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Yen Bai province shows that the total number of main livestock in the province is estimated at more than 865,000, reaching 99.2% of the target set for the year. Of which, the buffalo herd is about more than 100,000, the cow herd is nearly 42,000, the pig herd is over 720,000, and the poultry is over 7.5 million.
The output of fresh meat from livestock in the 10 months reached 67,390 tons, accounting for 89.9% of the annual plan. Some specialty livestock with high economic value exceeded the plan, including nearly 160,000 highland black chickens, more than 92,000 native pigs, and over 142,000 Lam Thuong ducks.
Faced with the risk of complicated developments from epidemics and natural disasters, the agricultural sector of Yen Bai province has directed relevant agencies to coordinate with localities to propagate and mobilize people to implement epidemic prevention measures, especially to control foot-and-mouth disease and African swine fever.
From now until the end of the year, the demand for live meat is expected to increase, while the risk of disease still exists, so the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Yen Bai province will closely coordinate with facilities to recommend farmers to move towards a model of biosafety and environmental protection.
At the same time, Yen Bai province will organize vaccination, provide disinfectants and check veterinary medicine business conditions according to regulations.
