Northern pig price

The morning of May 7 shows that the live hog market in the Northern region continues to have no major fluctuations. Currently, traders in the Northern provinces are still purchasing live hogs at a price range of 66,000 - 67,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, localities such as Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Ha Nam , Ninh Binh and Tuyen Quang still trade at the lowest level in the country, 66,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in Central Highlands

In the Central Highlands region, live pig prices remained stable this morning.

The price of live pigs in the provinces in this region currently has a clear difference, ranging from 67,000 - 74,000 VND/kg. Of which, Binh Thuan is the locality with the highest price, reaching 74,000 VND/kg.

Southern pig price

The southern pig market this morning recorded fluctuations in Ca Mau and Ba Ria - Vung Tau , when both decreased to 73,000 VND/kg. In general, the price of live pigs in the South is currently fluctuating from 73,000 - 74,000 VND/kg.

In particular, provinces such as Binh Duong, Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, Tay Ninh, Tra Vinh and Ca Mau all recorded the lowest price in the region, stable at 73,000 VND/kg.

Despite the holidays, pork consumption in the market has not yet returned to normal. Wholesale markets are still recording low transaction volumes, while restaurants, collective kitchens and schools have just started operating again, not creating a large demand.

However, many experts are still optimistic that the live hog market is entering a technical adjustment phase, and is likely to recover strongly by the end of May if domestic demand increases and processing enterprises increase purchases.

In the short term, farmers are advised to closely monitor local price developments and limit dumping when prices drop slightly. Maintaining a stable herd and implementing good disease prevention measures will be decisive factors in taking advantage of opportunities when prices rise again.

Traders also need to be flexible in purchasing, closely following the needs of distribution outlets, especially in the context of price differences between regions becoming more evident.

According to a report from the General Statistics Office, in the first four months of the year, pig farming activities across the country have developed steadily thanks to good control of African swine fever.

In addition, the high demand during the recent holiday also motivated farmers to restock, renovate barns and apply biosecurity measures to improve productivity and product quality.

By the end of April, the total pig herd nationwide had increased by 3% compared to the same period last year. As of April 27, African swine fever was still present in the provinces of Cao Bang, Lang Son, Dien Bien, Nghe An, Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc, Hau Giang and Ca Mau, less than 21 days have passed.
